Unwanted 'correction' of step counts

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

This is a daily occurrence when I hike.  During the course of my hike I watch the step count progressively increase.  All good so far.  I then get home and some time later, perhaps 1 to 3 hours later, my step count is 'corrected' downwards.  This typically subtracts 3000 to 8000 steps.  When hiking this is, as far as I have noticed, something thst happens every time.  Am mystified.

Hi @Tirolerbua do you force a sync soon after your hike?

By any chance, do you have Mobile Track turned on in the fitbit app?

Hi @Rich_Laue thanks for getting back to me.  I did find out what the problem was.  There was a hidden coupling between my Fitbit and my Strava account.  Deleting the link in the first level - in the settings page did not suffice.  I had to go into my Fitbit account to delete the connection.  Ultimately it is a shame that the two apps can’t co-exist.

Best wishes

They can co-exist, the user should only use one to record with.

Hi @Rich_Laue, I’ve never recorded anything on my Fitbit, other than the steps, pulse and such-like it records passively.  By having Strava disconnected now, I don’t get the steps ‚corrected‘ anymore, so problem solved 🙂

Thanks & Regards
