Voice Cues - How do I start them on Charge 3?

Hi,

I am trying to understand how to start Voice Cues on my Charge 3 whilst running?

I am currently running with my Charge 3 Watch and with my Iphone which has the Fitbit app.

I have wireless connected headphones and listed to music as I run.

I begin tracking my runs through the Fitbit watch via Exercise>run>start buttons. I always make sure the watch is "connected" before I commence the run.

At the end of my run the Fitbit App has captured all the run details however it does NOT update me via voice cues on the run. In settings on the app the "Play During Exercise" is switched on.

Would anyone have a suggestion as to why Voice Cues are not working?

Could it be that I have to start "track exercise" via the app instead of starting it via the watch? Seems very odd if that is the case as the watch is effectively starting the app anyway. Perhaps I am missing something?

Any help very much appreciated.

It's nice to see you around here @Malc66To get more detailed information about the Voice Cues, see: How do I use the Fitbit app to capture GPS data?

I'll be around if you need further assistance!

Hello @Malc66 to use voice cues the run/walk must be started on the Fitbit app, not the Charge 3 which has no speaker or option to connect to headphones.

So, audio cues can only be used when starting an exercise from the app? What if I use my watch whilst running to view time elapsed and current pace etc? If I start the via the app, then i will have no data visible on the watch?

The Charge 3 does not have a speaker a a can not have a headphone hooked up to it. So your correct. If using the. charge 3 you will get a vibration and a summary on the wrist.

The phone has a speaker and the Fitbit app is able to a bounce an audio cue.

I understand the watch doesn't have a speaker, but if it is connected to my phone when i start the run using the watch, surely the app can be activated to make the audio cues?

Currently, If i start an activity via the tracker, I can get a vibration cue every km, but then i would need to view my watch to see time expired to guesstimate my pace for that last km.

If I start the activity via the app, I can get an audio cue, but then don't get the pace, and distance available on the tracker, which is easier to view then the phone unless I hold it in my hand which is not ideal.

Also, the tracker only shows average pace, not current pace, or can this be changed?

@jimhillhome I'm not sure what link above your referring to. However as mentioned, you can not start voice cues from the Charge 3 but will need to use the mobile app to track your activity.

Is this a feature to be added in the future?

Best Answer

I need exactly this feature. I googled and was directed here.

Previously, I was using Xiaomi's Mi Band 4/5. They have this feature. No matter I started exercise tracking from the Mi Band or the Mi Fit app, the information (distance, heart rate, pace abd etc) is shown both on the phone and on the tracker, and voice cues are played through the phone speaker. Even I can set heart rate alert voices.

@doylecj probably not, first we will need to add a speaker to your Charge 3.

No need to add speakers to the tracker. The tracker is connected to the phone via bluetooth. Why not just make use of the phone's speakers as Xiaomi has already done for years?

I don't see where anyone has suggested this. But then would this be on the tracker?
