Walk activity tracks energy instead of heart rate

When recording a walk with GPS, it tracks "Energy" instead of "Heartrate" since about July 26. What changed? How can I get heartrate back?

Welcome to the Community Forums @SpencerG, it's a pleasure to give you a hand with this situation.

I appreciate the details that were shared in your post, seems odd that your activity is tracking energy instead of heart rate. To better assist you with this, can you please let me know how are you tracking your walk activity? Are you recording it directly from your device or with MobileRun? How many times since July 26th you experienced this? If possible, can you please send me a screenshot of the Energy information you're seeing? You can refer to this post to do so.

In the meantime I receive your answers, please make sure that your Fitbit app is up to date, same for your Charge 2 device and mobile device operating system.

Keep me posted.

Thanks for your reply. I am recording my walks directly on my Android device (Samsung Galaxy S7). I made a mistake in my original post – I stated that the “Energy” tab had replaced the “Heart Rate” tab. Actually, the Energy tab has always been there, I just didn’t pay any attention to it. The problem is that the HR tab no longer displays. The problem is consistent with all walking exercises since about two weeks ago that are recorded using GPS. If I don’t use GPS and let my tracker auto detect my walk, it does record HR. Go figure! So far I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, restarted my phone, restarted the Tracker, and re-setup the tracker on the app. As you requested, I’ve attached screen shots of two walks. August 05 with no HR available, and Jul 19 showing the HR display. This is very frustrating. I find the heartrate information in the GPS recording very useful. I’d like to figure out how to get it back.

I’m facing this problem currently as well. Hope to get a solution as well as it’s affecting my 3rd party app as well, since they need to extract the HR info from the workout.

Hei

I have had the same problem since my run on July 31th. The exercise does not show the hart rate anymore. The watch still records it and the HR is plotted on the daily HR plot.

Hi,

I'm also having the same issue with my Charge 2, I use it with an iPhone 5SE. I use it to record my running and until Jul/25 it was working fine but since my running record of Jul/29 the heart rate is not apeearing in my logs.

When the app/device detect automatically that I'm walking the heart rate appears just as before.

I hope a solution appear soon as I really need to check my running heart rates.

Regards.

This has been a hot topic on a discussion under “Heart rate data disappeared.”  It not only happens on the Charge 2 but most other Fitbit devices. It began the last week of July. All the suggested fixes like logging out, quitting Fitbit app, re-installing the app DO NOT work. Pretty much a run-around from the techies with no solution. Most believe it is a software glitch. Good luck!
