Walking with a stick

Hi

For various medical reasons I walk with a stick. Some days are better than others, but most strides are definitely not a 'normal' stride. I wear my fitbit on my non-dominant hand and the opposite hand to my stick.

Do I need to change anything on my fitbit settings to compensate for this? I don't want to get the wrong calories awarded as I'm trying to lose weight to help with the pain.

Many thanks for any help

You shouldn't have to change anything from what you have it is.

It seems it should still get step count okay, but calorie burn is calculated from heart rate, not from step count, so even if some steps don't get detected, that should not matter for calories burned.

One thing that might be off is stride length if the walking stick makes your steps shorter.  But again, that would not affect calorie burn; it just is used in distance calculation to convert number of steps to distance.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
