Warranty charge 2

My Charge 2 stopped counting stairs about 3 weeks out of warranty, then yesterday wouldn’t properly track exercise (about 14 months old)  I have talked at length twice with representatives at the help line and have been told that best they can do is offer 25% discount on new one.   Does the charge2 have to be replaced yearly?  Has anyone replaced with an Apple Watch?  If so, are you happy with it?

I've had  4 fits over the years , never had a one of them last longer than 14-16 months, which is too bad because even though I will be changing to another brand, I love fitbit, my husband swears that they are programed to die shortly after the warranty  expires.

I have a Charge 2 received when first released, still going strong and have several friends with no problems
