Can the fitbit be worn on the inside of my wrist to avoid damaging it during contact training? or can it be worn on the ankle? Thanks for your answers

Officially, that's not where it is designed to be worn. Unofficially, you can wear it anywhere you want.  Either of those places should give good step count.  As far as heart rate, you would just have to try it out and see (a) if you even get a steady heart rate and (b) if it looks reasonable.  On ankle I expect you would want it under sock to make sure it didn't fall off, and to try to keep it from slipping around to keep steady contact, hopefully for good heart rate.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
