What can I do with my old Fitbit?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have a new Fitbit but wonder if there is anywhere I can send the old one so that perhaps the parts inside could be reused?

I don’t like to throw things away where something could be used again, the band and screen are not in good condition though so it is not usable for anybody else.

It has been mentioned in other tracker forums that there is an outfit designed just for re-purpose of health trackers:

"If you have a Fitbit you no longer use, or extra chargers or bands, please send to RecycleHealth.com, a 501(c)(3) charity that refurbishes wearable activity trackers for under-served populations."

Great question.

@EveM90 Welcome to the Fitbit family! Thanks for posting your inquiry here regarding recycling your old tracker.

You can also take it to your local electronics store. They usually have recycling programs for electronic devices.

@wmchapman Thanks for sharing this great information! It is very useful for this board.

Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

I have a Charge 3 that looks brand new, plus extra purple strap never used...won't be buying another

as my Fitbit stopped working within 4 months of end of warranty period.  This is my 2nd

Fitbit and I have been very unlucky with them.  Sad really, because I loved mine when

it worked.  I found it strange though that Fitbit keeps sending me bogus weekly stats

even though my Fitbit has been broken in my desk drawer for the past few months.

My guess is they just make up these stats!!!  Actually, we had a good laugh over it, but

seriously, it's isn't funny when you think of it.

As to what to do with it....I could paint a pretty picture on the black face and wear it as a bracelet

or handily dangle my bear spray from my wrist rather than belt loop.  But then I would be

disappointed every time I looked at it, so although I don't like to throw things away either,

there comes a time when you just have to suck it up and kiss the junk goodbye!!!

Staples and Best Buy take old electronics, no matter in what condition. Please, don't just throw it away in the trash! There are other options.

I just sent off my old Versa 2 to RecycleHealth.com  I was SO happy to know that someone else will get some use out of it.  The process was super easy.  If Fitbit has returned, but functional, devices they are unable to resell, this might be a wonderful place to donate them for a tax write-off.  Thanks @wmchapman for the lead to this great organization!

I'm the Executive Director of Recycle Health and I wanted to let people know that we do not refurbish Fitbits. When sending to us, please make sure the following criteria applies:

  1. Screen is visible/lights up
  2. Screen isn't cracked or shattered
  3. Device can hold a charge for at least 24 hours
  4. Band stays attached to device

If your device doesn't meet this criteria then unfortunately we can't accept it.  We are happy to take chargers and extra bands (brand new or pristine condition).
