My fit bit app and android phone were in sync with charge 4 yesterday. Now it won't sync and I am being requested, allegedly by fitbit app, to set up " nearby permissions". What is this? Is it legitimately from Fitbit. My android is already set to blue tooth ,allow nearby devices.

@Passegiare , a warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for your message.
Sometimes after an App gets updated, you'll need to set up the settings again.
" Nearby permissions". is for you to allow the Fitbit paired to your account to get connected to your mobile device when they are nearby.
This helps for the sync, notifications, and other features.
Hope this helps.

@JuanFitbit , Can you describe how to get to the settings to allow "Nearby Permission"? When I click on "fix it" and follow the link to "setup" it does not take me anywhere. I also can not find any location settings that I have not given fitbit permissions for.

@RJ71 , A warm welcome to the Community Thank you for your efforts.
Could you provide me with the Android version your phone is using? So that I can provide you with best directions.
This feature was introduced on Android 12 and kept on Android 13 according to Android developers.

How to be helpful while not being helpful: Answer a question about how to set a Permission with a statement that effectively says, "Yep, you need that". And then provide a link to an Android developer's page concerning what developers have to do to require the app to need the permission.
Go to Settings -> Apps, scroll down and select Fitbit
Scroll to "Permissions" - you should see a list of permissions under that heading (ours only had "location"). Tap the "Permissions" area. Scroll down, you'll see "Allowed" an "Not Allowed" areas.
Under "Not Allowed" scroll to "Nearby Devices" tap that and set it to allowed.
Should be good to go.
