White vertical lines on Fitbit face-Charge 3

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have owned my Charge 3 since the beginning of the year and early on experienced some problems with screen deterioration. When I last charged the device, when I removed it from the charger, I noticed white lines running vertically through the face. I have tried all the solutions offered in the community forum but nothing has worked. Is there anything else I can try?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Jbeames1.

I'm sorry to hear that your Fitbit Charge 3 display is showing vertical lines. Thank you for trying different troubleshooting steps before contacting us.

Please confirm that you've restarted your Tracker by following these steps. If this doesn't help, you can perform a long restart:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

In addition, you can change the clock face by following the instructions on this article.

Mine did the same thing yesterday.  Put it on charge while I showered. When I took it off the charger it had the white lines.  I tried all the suggestions of rebooting but they are still there. When I spoke to customer service they informed me that my warranty was up so they couldn't help me. My only option is to buy a new one. Gave me a 25% off code.  Which is a joke because it's the same price as the father's day special. And the same price as Amazon and target. So not a discount at all! Hopefully your fitbit will still be under warranty. It seems that a lot of people started posting about this yesterday!

My Fitbit Charge 3 has just done the exact same thing! It was fine until I charged it earlier? Come on Fitbit, what’s going on?

Seriously! It's obviously something with fitbit.  So I'm not sure why I'm being penalized for their problem! I would understand if I did something to cause the white streaks but I didn't! It's clearly something they did.  So I would hope they would make it up to a customer regardless of if their warranty is up!

Honestly I’m so annoyed, apart from one black line going over the screen I’ve had no issues! Now it will hardly let me swipe up or across? A bit strange how some people are getting this over the last day or so? I’d say it was a Fitbit issue that should be getting dealt with 😡. Can’t believe I had a nice black screen before charging, now I can hardly see it?

My Charge 3 is about 18 months old and its display failed about two weeks ago in the same manner as many, many others have described.  Now I see more and more failures.  Did Fiftbit do something through its sync function to "update" the Charge 3 and inadvertently kill the display?  Just wondering.

Hi, it certainly does make you wonder. I bought mine in Jan 2019, had no issues until earlier, took it off charge and couldn’t believe the state of the screen. Definitely not something I’ve done to it as I take good care of it. If there are many people complaining recently, it’s got to have been an update fault?

I have taken the Charge 3 back to the retailer and paid the difference for
a Charge 4. I hope it performs better.

Hi,

I returned my Charge 3 to the retailer who would have given me a full
refund. I chose to pay the fifference for a Charge 4. If this one does not
perform, I will be asking for a refund and I won't be getting another one.

OK, tried doing the reset like you suggested, but didn't get all the vibrations you mentioned.  Still have grey vertical and two black horizontal lines on my display.  Not impressed with this product.

Hi Jan,

I’ve just found my box and receipt. The warranty book states if you live in the EEA there’s a 2 year warranty, so I shall contact them and see what they say. It’s just so annoying as all I did was put it on charge like normal?

Hi, I tried everything to try reset it. I have about 3-4 black horizontal lines and various shades of grey vertical lines. Not impressed!

Exactly the same thing has happened to mine - low battery, charged it and now have the vertical white lines on the face. It is less responsive to touch too. I've tried all of the short and long resets and changed the clock face. What's next?

Hi, I’ve no idea. Would be nice if Fitbit responded to all our messages! Seems to be a common theme and we’re not alone? I’ve sent a message to them via Twitter but had no reply.

I've just been in contact with customer service on the live chat. After trying a few resets with them they've offered me a replacement - worth getting in contact directly

I’m having the same problem. It started a few weeks back faded screen with vertical lines, it’s very frustrating. Nothing seems to resolve it and I feel my Fitbit  is pretty useless in this condition. Would really appreciate some advice.
