@h8fit-bit A Fitbit must be on an account and regularly syncing to keep the correct time on the device. Digital clocks can drift from the correct time. If you just want your child to use it as a watch, I suppose you could try adding it back to your account, syncing the time, then removing it from your account. But you will need to do this every time you change time zones or if your area observes daylight savings time.
The only way not to track someone is to not have it on an account. Fitbit/Google must comply with children's internet privacy laws. Nothing was removed and this is not a bug. A Charge 2 isn't suitable for younger children.

@h8fit-bit If your child is under 13 years of age in the US, it is not possible to set up the Charge 2 for them. (That age varies in other countries.) The Charge 2 is meant for adults and, for reasons related to internet privacy laws, only devices in the Ace product line are available for younger children.

It's great to hear that it should work outside the US for children older than 13, why doesn't it work then?

@NotinUS @h8fit-bit The Fitbit app uses a web based platform. It must be compliant with internet privacy laws like COPPA in the US and GDPR in the EU. A child must be 13 and older in the US. The age is 13 in most EU countries, but is 16 and older in some.
The Ace models don't use a web based platform.

This is the best answer, it's also what I did to sync the watch to the correct time
