Why is only half of my sleep recorded?

Before recently, the sleep tracker on my Fitbit worked fine. Now, it only records about half of my sleep for each night. I usually wake up in the middle of the night and fall back asleep, but the second half of my sleep isn’t recorded. How can I fix this? I’ve tried resetting the charger so please don’t tell me to do that.

I'm having similar issues.  I do not get up in the middle of the night at all and it's only logging 3-4 hours of sleep.  I can assure you, I do NOT go to bed at midnight and get up at 4:00 a.m.  LOL  This is super frustrating as my device is brand new!

I'm having the same problem with my Versa.  I thought it may be because I travel across multiple time zones throughout the world.  Seems to work fine at home for the most part.  A lot of times I have to delete an earlier sleep log, the edit the times of the most recent log to make it work.  Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't.  Very frustrating.

I'm having the same issues which apparently has been going on for quite some time and still ongoing. How bout fixing this?

I upgraded from Charge 2 to Charge 4 mainly to get better heart statistics. Sleep monitoring has become much less consistent since the "upgrade." Fitbit, FIX THIS!

I am getting this same thing in my Versa.  Worked fine for over a year and a half and all of a sudden it chooses when it wants to record my sleep.  Go to bed at 10 and wake up at 7, it decides I went to bed at 2:22am and got up at 5:19am.  WTH?  It's been doing this for a week and my sleep looks insane and I have no way of seeing how I actually slept.  Everything I have is up to date, apps, heart rate, etc.  WHAT GIVES FITBIT????  ANNOYING

When my night is divided into two or more segments, I delete all the sleep logs except for the one that shows my wake up, then edit that log to start when I went to bed. That usually will show the complete night. Doesn’t fix the problem, but will correct that particular night of rest.

The "manually log" link you provided goes to a page on tracking oxygen variation.

Almost 3 years since people started complaining about their sleep not getting recorded correctly and over 2 years since fitbit even bothered responding.  Basically since Google announced they were going to acquire fitbit for several billion dollars.  Evidently the executive team at fitbit is already halfway out the door and no longer cares about the quality of their products or the people who buy them.  I'm returning the 3rd different fitbit model tomorrow (buy at Costco for easy returns) and will never buy another fitbit.

For the first time last night my sleep was not recorded properly either. I slept soundly, and late! In fact, I know I slept for at least nine solid hours. Fitbit records that I slept less than two hours, recording just my first two hours of sleep. I added the new update a couple of days ago, so thinking there is perhaps a flaw in the update. Super annoying!

Guess the answer is clear…my next tracker will not be a Fitbit…if the Fitbit won’t reliably do what I bought it to do and the company is unwilling to help, not much to consider…just bought my daughter a Garmin and she’s liking that…maybe an Apple Watch for me b

I found this post yesterday. I had been having similar problems for the past week - only half of my sleep recorded, no line graph with 3 sleep levels but a strange column graph instead. So I checked my heart rate monitor and it was off.  Don't know how - I must have done it accidentally.  So I turned it back on, and this morning have my usual sleep record.  Many, many thanks for this suggestion.   Kay

I have the same issue. Heart rate is on and app is updated.

Charge 4. Got up for 10 min ans it stopped tracking.

I got up at 5:30 and went back to sleep and woke up at 8:14 and second segment was not tracked.

I’ve been having the exact same problem for I think a year now. Had the issue with the Alta HR and with the Charge 4 which I’ve had since last week, same problem. It (sometimes) stops tracking my sleep in the middle of the night. This has nothing to do with settings but with Fitbit programming. This issue is taking too long, please fix it. And no, I don’t want manually edit my sleep record.
