My Charge 3, which is barely two years old, suddenly stopped holding a charge the other day. When I went to bed it was working perfectly as it’s always done, but when I woke up it was completely dead.
If I put it in the cradle to charge, it will power back on and show 1% battery suggesting it simply needs to charge, but it will go to 100% within a few minutes. It works fine while still plugged in and I can navigate the menus and such. However when I take it out, it dies within a minute or two, and when putting it back in the charger it now shows 1% again(!!).
When I contacted Support, they did some basic troubleshooting but eventually told me that it’s out of warranty so I’m out of luck. I’m having a bit of a hard time with that simply because there was NOTHING to precipitate such a drastic change in the device!! It wasn’t dropped, wet (even though it’s waterproof and that shouldn’t matter anyway) or anything. The battery wasn’t slowly losing performance over time, I was getting 7 days easy. It was fine one day and then just INSTANTLY stopped working, while I was sleeping, no less!
This reeks of a software/firmware issue of some kind but Support has kindly shown me the door, so I’m here asking if anyone here has either
A) experienced this issue as well and might know what caused it
or
B) knows of some kind of hard reset or firmware reset or something that I can try to hopefully bring this thing back to life.
Thanks for reading!

I just started having the same issue with my charge 3. I purchased mine in December 2018. My battery is draining daily. I use to charge about every week but now I’m having to charge every day! I don’t know what to think this just started about a month ago.

My Charge 3 started doing exactly the same thing this week.

Obviously an issue on their side

The Sale of Goods Act legislation offers consumers protection against faulty goods that falter beyond the warranty period and up to a period of 6 years. Goods are expected to last a reasonable period of time which is past the warrenty period. I have quoted this to get a replacement on my Fitbit scales, I also had to threaten to get trading standards involved, take them to small claims court and report it to watchdog on TV but I did get the replacement "as a gesture of goodwill". This seems to be a really common problem and shocking when you consider how much they cost so persevere, you will get somewhere and if enough people do this, they will eventually have to improve the quality of their batteries. Hope this helps.

Alas, I'm not in the US, but that's still pretty interesting to know. Thanks! 🙂

Oop, my mistake sorry! I'm in Japan in any case so still unlikely to directly benefit.
