Woke up with 7,000 steps but no logs. Activity graph doesn't match steps counted

I woke up with 7,000 steps today even though my Fitbit was left charging at my bedside. Now it's showing i have 12,000 steps but my chart doesn't match up with the calculated number. I wrote down the approximate numbers for all the lines and calculated it and it came out to around 5,000 steps. I tried logging the time that I was asleep as driving in the activity tab but that didn't help get rid of the 7,000 extra steps is my Fitbit just too old? I don't know exactly how old it is but I do know it's pretty old. It's had a similar problem with sleep logs where the graph shows a different amount of restless periods than were actually counted. I'm so frustrated.

Picture of the activity graph and how many steps is said I took:

It just randomly fixed itself. Like it's now 5:30 and I just checked and it's at 5,300 steps. Random.
