There is speculation is that the red sensor light is related to SPO2 monitoring that has yet to made available to us. Does it stay on? If not, then I wouldn't worry about it - there are many other posts where this has been spotted.

My battery dies in 5 hours, due to this red light. I have tried rebooting and changing my clock face but still not winning. What could possibly be the problem?

I had the red light flashing and after checking with the community I ignored it and it never happened again. Fitbit techies didn't know the answer but they heard of it happening. I know this doesn't help, but you are not the only one.
Good luck, Ray

I am having an issue where my Fitbit Charge started flipping out, flashing between screens and vibration like crazy, then became unresponsive. I did a customer support chat, restarted and it stopped flipping out BUT now there is a bright red light. Not a blinking light but a bright unblinking red light which doesn't go away. My battery is also draining super fast, like in hours not a week like normal. I have made another chat and 2 phone calls with no solution. I was supposed to get an email to fo a "battery drain test" or some such thing, which hours later and I still have yet to receive. Super frustrated.
