I am confused about the accuracy of calories burned on my charge 2. My (active) friends with apple watches were discussing how their calories burned goal on their watches was 500 and they sometimes found it hard to hit, where as my fitbit on a day where i go to a gym class and then have my normal day is showing upwards of 2500 calories burned?

Fitbit includes your BMR (basal metabolic rate) calories that you are always burning just by being alive. They usually account for more than half your daily calorie burn.
See How does my Fitbit device calculate calories burned?
I have not used Apple watch, but for 500 calories, that must not include BMR calorie burn; (they might refer to it as active and passive calories).
