Wake up to find I have around 4000 or so steps. When checking steps credited  at 4am. Rebooted device. Still reoccurring

Check if you have MobileTrack set up as a device.  If so, removing it, might help prevent that from re-occurring.  Please post whether or not you do have Mobile Track.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I have had this happen to me but it's like 30 thousand plus in a matter of 15 minutes.  It did happen a couple of times in the past but it has happened the last two days.  I tried rebooting and will see if it happens tomorrow.

@LvCfs32  As I suggested to @DaveJ1982 , check if you have MobileTrack set up as a device.  If so, removing it might help prevent it from re-occurring.  I have no idea why.

HI Johnny,

I am having the same issue, except that it suddenly adds hundreds to thousand of steps randomly throughout the day. What is "Mobile Track", and where can you check it at? I am so frustrated with this device, which has been previously returned for "black screening" and then returned to me (same device, I can tell) that I am considering  buying a tracker from another company. My Charge 2 worked flawlessly for years, whereas this model has never worked correctly during the year I have had it. 😞

Johnny,

Hi again---I did find the Mobile Track info by checking the manual. It was turned on, and I have turned it off to see if it helps. I am hoping so, although I don't think it will fix the other issues this unit has been having---badly miscalculating steps versus distance ( more than a mile off), suddenly changing the time to being 3 hours ahead of my actual time, and refusing to light the display screen without actually pushing the button. However, since it's the mis-tracking the causes the most frustration, I'll start with that and see how it goes. Strangely, many of the new Charge 5 users are reporting the same issues, which makes me very reluctant to upgrade to another Fitbit.

Thanks for the suggestion though--I had never heard of it and would not have thought twice about seeing something called Mobile Track activated on my app---since I am, after all, trying to be mobile. 🙂
