how to use a dongle for fitbit charge 2

Hello.

  My Doctor bless her heart. Gave me her Fitbit charge 2,  I was really thrilled to receive this. But now I am waiting on a Dongle to sync  with my computer. I don't have the newer windows 10 or a Android or any of the newer Cell phones. So what I am wondering is how do I use the Dongle for my new account.?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks  nyzki

Just a thought @nyzki

Since your doctor gave you this, they must want you to keep an eye on your activity. If you live close to the doctor, why not see if you can set up and sync weekly at their office? That way, they can see your progress and you can get set up.

You might find a friend with a Fitbit who can let you sync to their cellphone or computer, too.

She doesn't know anything about this, She had to have someone else set this up for her.  So I know nothing about  this, other than it does vibrate to remind me to get up and take a walk  once in awhile. So any information other than what I have received in unknown.

Yea I am having some issues also did not get a dongle though have to check that out Yea I am gonna have to agree it seems you and a Fitbit are not made for each other why with all that work it requires you to do, mercy me I I would not want to go through all of those steps windows 10 is much better than win 8 though I am using a Mac with Sierra OS and can not get the charge 2 to work.

@nyzki,

Okay, it sounds like you already have Fitbit Connect installed.  Good first step.  Now, make sure that you have the dongle plugged in to a USB port, it looks like this:

Once that's plugged in run Fitbit Connect.  Just click on the start menu, type 'Fitbit' to find it and then run it.  You should get a menu that looks like this:

Follow the instructions after that.  You should eventually get a four digit code on your Fitbit that you'll have to enter into the app to verify that's your tracker.  Let me know if you encounter any snags.

I hope this helps.

@nyzki,

While I understand that you still can't get it to work, it would help us narrow down the cause if you could elaborate on where you're encountering problems.  For instance:

  • It sounds like you have Fitbit Connect installed already.  What happens if you try to run it?  Does the Fitbit Connect app open?  Do you see an option to 'Set Up a New Fitbit Device'?
  • Does it prompt you to plug in the dongle?  Have you tried other USB ports on your computer?
  • When you selected 'Set Up a New Fitbit Device', does it prompt you for your Fitbit account details?
  • Did you get as far as selecting which tracker you want to set up?

Etc...  We're more than happy to help you, but you'll need to help us narrow down the cause.  I know that Fitbit Connect runs on older versions of Windows because I run it.

Welcome to the forums @Kiwi_K

The last post in this thread was two years ago. It's nice to know Windows 7 still works for a few. I'm using 8.1 and Fitbit Connect still works for me.

Glad you're with us.
