iPhone XR won't recognize Charge 2

I have had my Charge 2 and used it with my old iPhone 6S and it would alert me to text messages, calls, etc. I got the new iPhone XR and I have read every message about how to disconnect from the old phone and reboot it, etc. and done everything I could and my new phone still won't discover it in Bluetooth. I finally saw a link to Charge 2 compatible devices and the newest model listed was the iPhone X which was last year's model. None of the new models from this year (XS,  XS Max, and now the XR) were listed. Has anyone been able to get the XR to like via Bluetooth to give the alerts? I have no problem syncing to the fitbit app itself on the XR as that works fine, its just trying to get the text message and phone call alerts that doesn't work with the new phone. Thanks for any help anyone can give me!

I called and spoke with a fitbit rep and somehow they got it going while I was on the phone with them. I had tried everything and I have no idea how it suddenly started to work. Have you called them?

Yes, I called Fitbit yesterday to discuss the issues I was having. They gave me a coupon to purchase a new Fitbit and there was nothing they could do for me. I just recently learned aboutthe issue with the iPhone XR through the community boards. Very frustrating. Maybe I’ll try again. Thanks for your response.

Hey guys! I hope you are doin' fine!

@Maryminior, I appreciate the time you have taken to review the tips here in the Community forums to make your Charge 2 sync with your iPhone XR, and also, for contacting our Support team for further help. I guess that they have explained that, as this phone model hasn't been yet as a compatible device, you'll experience some inconveniences to connect it with your Fitbit tracker. So I will ask you to be patient while our team is working in order to expand the list of compatible devices.

@soxfan1, thanks for calling our Support team too! Sounds great that your Charge 2 is working with your iPhone XR. 😉 I appreciate the update.

If you have further questions guys, let me know!

I just called Fitbit and they were able to get the Bluetooth on my iPhone XR to work with the Charge 2 so that I get text message alerts again on the Charge 2. I had been trying to get the Bluetooth to link to it by going in the Settings>>Bluetooth on my iPhone and it wouldn't recognize the Charge 2. The FitBit phone rep instead had me open the FitBit app, click on the little rectangular box in the upper right (looks like an ID card) which took me to the Account page. Then she had me click where it said Charge 2 which took me to the page where you set up Handedness, Wrist, etc. If you scroll down on the page you'll see where it says "All-Day Sync" and if yours is like mine, it will currently be off. She had me click to turn it on and then it asked something about if I wanted to sync to it (I don't remember exactly what it said but it was fairly obvious when it came up.) I then saw it said syncing and there was a progress bar and once it was done, I was synced. I went back into Settings>>Bluetooth on my phone and it now showed the Charge 2 in there. Hopefully this will work for you. If it doesn't, I would call them to see if they can help you.

I tried what you suggested but could not get past the Charge 2 setup screen within the Fitbit app. Fitbit keep ‘searching’ and was unable to locate my charge 2 device. Very frustrating. I’ll give Fitbit a call (again) and see if they can provide fury assistance. The moderator indicated iPhone XR is not on their compatible device list and that’s why I’m having issues. Can’t understand all users aren’t having issues syncing Thanks for your help

Hey @indybill7, welcome aboard! I appreciate you have taken the time to contact our Support team for further help and that you have shared the tips that worked for you. 😉

@Maryminior, the iPhone XR that you are using, already appears on the compatible devices list as you can see in this help article: Which phones and tablets can I use with my watch or tracker? So please try to set it up your Charge 2 as a new device again. If you have inconveniences to do this, please follow the tips in this help article: Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?

I tried to set up as a new device and did not have any success. I called Fitbit and troubleshot with the customer service who tried w/o luck to get me operational. After escalating the issue to the development team, they came back with the iPhone XR is new and not fully working with Fitbit at this time. They suggested I wait for the next release/update to see if that takes care of the pairing issue. Unfortunately, no date was provided so for now I cannot use the Fitbit app.

I just got a new iphone XR and my fitbit initially synced but now it will not connect to bluetooth or sync.  It keeps "searching".  I tried the process described above but got stuck.  This problem is not solved for me!  Please help.

- Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

- My device isn't receiving notifications from my phone

Hope that helps!

I chatted with Fitbit this morning and was unable to resolve the problem. I’m getting phone calls now but still not getting texts. They’re elevating my case to premium support so hoping to have it resolved soon

These are the instructions I got from Fitbit and they worked!

1. Go to Settings, Notifications, Messages

2. Make sure Allow Notifications is on

3. Make sure Notification Center, Lock Screen and Banners are enabled and choose “persistent” for Banners

4. Make sure Show Previews is set to “Always”

5. Try a test message
