Unpacked my Charge 2 and I get a screen with the Fitbit logo and "www.fitbit.com/setup". I already have a Charge, so I'm all set up. How do I get the Charge 2 past this boot screen?

Found the problem - I didn't sync it with Bluetooth. All good once I did that.

I had the same thing and finally got it by connecting/pair to bluetooth on my phone and it finally worked

Hi guys. Someone may find this useful. If you are upgrading from a Charge to a Charge 2 you need to go down the add a device route NOT the replace a device direction, as you are not replacing like for like. (You can delete your old Charge later). This worked instantly for me after trying for hours to get past the initial setup screen on my new device.

I'm in the same boat I guess. I'm using a Mac and a Charge 2, can't get through the initial setup as the fibtbit connect app hangs on the "please turn on bluetooth" panel.
New to fitbit, but created user account earlier. Today got the Charge 2, went to www.fitbit.com/setup, logged in, installed the mac fibtbit connect app, selected Charge 2, pressed the power button on the Charge 2, the display comes on (and just says www.fitbit.com/setup), then I get to the page that says "please go to system preferences to turn on Bluetooth".
Went to system prefs and Bluetooth was already on. It lists two devices, both as "not connected." No idea which, if either, is my charge 2. There's another choice on the system prefs Bluetooth page-- "discoverable", which is off. But I'd since the app didn't tell me to enable that, I'd like to see some real documentation explaining whether I need that before I just start flipping switches on and off willie nillie.
No idea what to do next. The fibtbit connect app won't let me move on to the next step, and doesn't appear to have any other options. The *only* instructions that came with the product are "www.fitbit.com/setup". Unless there are other instructions hidden in the box somewhere.

I have the same problem (just opened my fitbit charge 2 this afternoon), and it's stuck on the setup screen, and when I plug it in to charge, I don't get the battery-charging display it looks like I'm supposed to see. Will it still charge stuck on the setup display?

It is not stuck on the setup screen, it is politely waiting to be setup.
As for the charg8ng indicator, you won't see it until the tracker is setup.
Download the Fitbit software or the app, choose tye "i have an account", log in and follow the prompts to add the tracker.

exact same problem here. i used online chat and also called, both said i have a dud (my words not theirs, they were quite kind and willing to try to help) and need to return the device. I'm willing to try other things before returning it, but if there is a design flaw i would return as opposed to exchange
attempted with ios on iphone 6, ipad, also windows.

I tried setting it up via my computer and downloaded the app, but it wouldn't let me sync my fitbit charge 2 without purchasing a "wireless sync dongle." That didn't seem right, so I assumed I had to charge it more, even though it was already charged for hours. I woke up the next day, I was still stuck on the "www.fitbit.com/setup" screen. I decided to download the app from my phone to see if it would sync and it worked! It synced through bluetooth. Not sure why it didn't work on my computer.

THANK YOU! Got my new HR2 for Christmas and was super frustrated after having charged it and followed most of the instructions higher up in this thread.

The "solution" points to a broken link. There is no "replacement setup process" there.

Thanks to all the responses - immensely helpful. After I charged mine overnight, everything in set up process worked perfectly. Thanks again!

I have had my Charge 2 for some months now. Suddenly it is only displaying 'fitbit.com/setup' on screen. I have tried a reboot. When I log into my account it doesn't have the connection to the charge. Please advise.

Hello @Dahsm may I ask at what step if the setup process does it fail, and what device are you using to setup the tracker?
Let's look at the setup process

Rich. Hi. I was going through the setup process to the point where a four number verification code appeared on my tracker and I entered that number on my Samsung Galaxy tablet fitbit app. Then the app took me to my dashboard, where I can set goals, etc, but tracker is still in setup mode. The interesting thing is that the fitbit seems to be counting my steps and the total steps appear when I open the app. I have been charging it for four hours. During the original "setup" process, the tracker was synced with my tablet, but will not sync now. As suggested, I will charge overnight, but not optimistic that will help
