"Error registering Charge 3 with Fitbit wallet HTTP 500" message

Hello there,

I got my Charge 3 yesterday and everything works smoothly, with the single exception of FitBit Pay, which I cannot set up.

When I try to register my device I click Wallet and "Get started" but eventually I see "Checking for PIN..." then after a long wait: "Error registering charge 3 with Fitbit wallet HTTP 500". The firmware version is 28.20001.49.45, the model is FB410.

This seems to be the same exact issue referred here: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-3/Error-registering-charge-3-with-Fitbit-wallet/m-p/3092223 (only the accepted solution of un-pairing all other Bluetooth devices does not work for me, and neither do other solutions proposed by other forum members (i.e. not using the WiFi, uninstalling & reinstalling the app).

Thanks in advance for your help!

I have the same problem and I have tried all the solutions here to no avail.  I also have been talking to fitbit support and they don't seem to have any idea either.

I've just received my Charge 3 about an hour ago and after successfully pairing and syncing the Charge 3 to my phone, I'm having the exact same problem with the wallet/Fitbit Pay function. Tried using my phone's own internet connection, unpaired other devices and the Charge 3 multiple times, reinstall app a few times, still not working.

I tried this morning and it looks like it is working now! My bank  card is not compatible at the moment though!

Lucky you! I re-tried right after I got the notification of your message but... nothing. Still not working now either. Will re-try from time to time and see what happens... did you happen to change anything at all in your configuration/settings/procedure?

Did you do anything differently?  like unpair the device, reinstall fitbit app, etc?

I think I even reset to factory at some point and deleted all data stored by the app (didn't reinstall the app)

By unpair do you mean removing it from the phone bluetooth configuration or from the app? I

Ok everyone.  I called customer support again this morning, and of course, no solution at all.  Then a while later, I just randomly tried it again, clicked the wallet tile, and it worked.  No unpairing the device, no reinstalling the fitbit app, no more trying the solution I had found previously on this forum.  It seems that there is a pattern. People have to call in ---> no solution --> escalated to support team (or so they say) --> wait a little bit --> then it amazingly works.  Now I am thinking that someone inside fitbit is manually prioritizing the fitbit wallet registering process.  Maybe their IT infrastructure isn't capable handling the work load.  Who knows?  Well, I guess we just have to try to do this randomly and hope it will work.

Indeed, I think @SunsetRunner is right. I just tried again and it worked for me too. I could start the process, add a PIN, and even though my card is not supported just like @Jazzi1 's, I can now enter the wallet (and the "Device lock" option of the configuration, in case I want to change the PIN) without issues.

Yes, mine worked after about 30 minutes - 1 hour of speaking to customer support. Just left with trying the real payment function soon to see if it's all good.

@lauramcastro@Jazzi1@awanderer7, @SunsetRunner, @eevonhon and @calvaris. In Apr 9th we received some information about an issue like this, that was fixed on Apr 11th. You should be able to setup Fitbit Pay if you haven't already.

You just need to follow the instructions provided in the help article How do I set up Fitbit Pay?. If you keep experiencing this problem, feel free to provide me with some screenshots of the error.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Hello everybody who are looking for new payment method and considering buying the Charge 3 SE (use Fitbit Pay). Like many of you I bought the Charge 3 SE specifically for the contactless feature. I spent many hours on the internet and discussions like this one by reading advice and trying to set it up but with the same result - Error Registering Charge 3 with Fitbit Wallet . The latest firmware version is installed in my device. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, unpaired all Bluetooth devices including my Charge 3 and restarted my mobile many times..without success. All other functions are working - except Fitbit Wallet.

These Fitbit community web sites are full of the same or similar issues. It's very sad that the known company like Fitbit provides unreliable software.

Thanks for any advice.

You should try use other supported devices to setup fitbit wallet.

I tried to reboot and reinstall app on both device, my phone and fitbit charge 3. But it never work. However, when i disconnected charge 3 from my fitbit account and reconnect it by using ipad air. Then i setup fitbit wallet. It worked for me and i hope it work for u.

Cheer!!
