repetitive periodic sync issue with charge 2

I've had my charge 2 for about 3 years.  Bought it for a fitness challenge at work.  I used it probably 24-7, only taking it off to shower and to charge because I liked the heart rate and sleep functions.  Thanks to the fitbit, I realized that I was more active than I realized.

The issue began about 1 year in, when I was having issues syncing it.  Initially, turning the Bluetooth on my phone on and off.  Then, it had problems charging and the syncing issues got worse.  The last time, syncing required tech support and a firmware upgrade, which solved the problem.  This last time, gently wiping the back of the charge 2 with a moist, very soft Kleenex as suggested somewhere on the community allowed the fitbit to recharge, but did not resolve the sync issue.  This time, tech support essentially told me I was completely out of luck and have to replace the fitbit, which is not acceptable, as it seems like a firmware upgrade worked the last time.

Based on my usage, I would suggest that it may be helpful if Fitbit can sell cleaning kits, extended warranties, and/or make more durable fitbit devices with a longer life, or combinations thereof.  I suspect that a fair number of people would be fine with some or all of these enhancements to extend their device usage..

@aggiealum2 It's great to see that you've visited the Fitbit Community!

Let me help you with your Charge 2 not syncing with your phone and thank you for troubleshooting this issue. Not sure which troubleshoots you tried but you can try the following:

  • Go to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there.
  • Restart your phone and restart your device
  • Check that no battery saving app/feature on your phone is affecting your Fitbit app.
  • Also, if you are using an Android device, check that your app has the necessary permissions (settings > apps > Fitbit > permissions) and make sure bluetooth and location services (GPS) are on.
  • You can find troubleshooting instructions here.

By the way Fitbit now sells extended warranties when ordering from the Fitbit.com store but if you have any other suggestions then you can share your idea in our Feature Suggestions board. Search for the idea first to see if one already exists so you can add your vote. The more votes an idea gets the more likely the developers will try to implement it.

Let me know how it goes.
