charge 8.124

android app is 3.29

Just got it a couple days ago.

I did see a post telling me how to change/edit sleep start time. Good.

At midnight my bracelet resets steps to zero. Cool. Correct as compared to other bracelets.

However the app doesn't recognize this until I do something (I haven't figured out what)(last time I rebooted my phone to get it to change)(once telling it that I wasn't sleeping any more did it)(apparently I have to tell it when I lie down to go to sleep and when I get up)

Sometimes I see the red exclamation point a lot for sync.Maybe that is the problem?

Seems to sync just fine throughout the day.

Only really need steps and sleep quality. Hoped fitbit would be less fussy than the fake-fitbits I have been using.

Okay! I will continue talking to myself!!! 🙂

Sleep times: yes indeedy you (I) need to manually enter these. When I get up in the morning, I click the + sign next to the moon icon(in phone app). This will give me the start and stop times. I tap on the start time to correct it (and the stop time if necessary) and then click save. Voila!  In fitbit terms this adds a sleep log entry. I wish they had told me that in the startup instructions! 🙂

Now about that sync problem... I have googled many times for that over the years but yesterday I hit on the answer.

For Android (in this case a Moto X4 One fi stock Pie on the latest (-11)(Aug 1) security update) : For android releases prior to Pie, most of this will apply.

my notes:

-

settings/apps & notifications/advanced/special app access/battery optimization:
-- tap top bar, select ALL
-> exclude bluetooth, fitbit (or fake fitbit app) (and anything else you want to stay awake!)

settings/battery:
battery saver OFF
adaptive battery OFF

-

This will add a tiny bit to your phone's battery use but I doubt you will notice it.

This will be slightly different for Samsung (menu variations) but I think you can easily adapt these instructions to it.

The alternative seems to be that google, in its infinite wisdom, has android bluetooth and your fitbit app go to sleep when the phone goes to sleep. This plays absolute hell with syncing for little BT devices (activity trackers, earbuds, etc). As soon as I did that, my fitbit acted as though it had been given an elixer 🙂 and worked beautifully.

This should be added to the fitbit notes for sync probs for android phones. <-------------

I apparently can't edit a post so will add this as a reply: just discovered: when I pressed sync now on app, it tried for a minute and then red exclamation point. tried a few other things with same result.

Pressed and hold bracelet side button until timer starts, press and hold again to stop timer, press to clear timer.

NOW sync works perfectly.

What am I missing here?
