steps not resetting to zero at midnight

Hello after the time-change this sunday my fit bit changed the time just fine.  But what it all of a sudden it isn't doing is resetting the step count to zero at midnight.  It is carrying over the step count from the previous day and adding to it.  It's 8am and I already have 15,000 - wow! I have done the following already with no success:

updated my fit bit app
logged out of app, restarted charge 2,
turned off bluetooth and restarted phone
logged back on and synced

Any other ideas?

Mine too! I called customer service but I was on hold for twenty minutes and I had to hang up so I could leave for work. If anyone figures out how to fix it please let me know.

Mine did the same thing.  Last month I lost my food log and my weight log and so far no one has been able to figure this one out for me.  Now this month my steps aren't resetting.  Started to get frustrated with fitbit.

Having the same problem. When I got up this morning it had already registered 3000+ steps. I know I am a restless sleeper, but not that restless!

My steps were already over 5,000 when I woke up and didn't reset to 0 either. My flights of stairs didn't reset too.

Mine did the same thing! I was just looking to see if it happened to anyone else and if there was something I could do about it.

I finally got through customer service.  They said to restart my fitbit.  I haven't tried it yet, because I do not carry my charger around with me, so have to wait until I get back home.  They said after restarting, the wrong steps will still show up, and it will correct itself at Midnight tonight and reset to zero.  They said you don't lose any data or steps

To restart the Fitbit Charge, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display.
  4. Press and hold the button to restart your tracker:
    • For Charge 2—press and hold the button on your tracker for 4 seconds. When you see the Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.
  5. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

I did all this stuff. Also disabled the “move reminder” switch as suggested. Restarted phone. Bla bla bla. And nothing still. I have 18,000 steps from YESTERDAY!  Time and date is correct. But not the steps.

This exact same thing happened in 2018 to me and the next day it all went back to normal. It is annoying that for today it looks like I've walked a lot more than I have but it does automatically fix itself on Tuesday. At least it did last time...

My Fitbit Charge 2 reset two days after the time change. Now it records the time I go to bed 3 hours late and awaking anywhere from correct to 1-2 hours early. These bands aren’t chump change. Wish it’d just work correctly.

I did the reset as instructed and my steps have been resetting normally. I don’t track my sleep, but my bedtime reminder alerts me at the expected time.

Hello everyone. Sorry to hear that your steps didn’t reset at midnight and for the delay in my response. This may happen when there is a change in timezone (due to travel or DST changes).  You can restart your device as this will help it reset the following midnight but it won’t remove the steps from the affected date.

Let me know how it goes!
