I am an mri tech and I just purchased the fitbit charge 2 and I was wondering if its safe for me to wear it in the room while I set my patients up on the mri table?

Interesting question, @philrie31. I don't know, but I would think that as long as the magnetic field is not active it would not be a problem. I have noticed techs wearing watches while setting me up for an MRI, so it would not appear the Fitbit tracker would be any different. But, I don't know...

The magnetic field is always "active" aka on. The magnet is never off EVER. Unless the machine has been quenched, or completely broken. Fitbit can be worn by techs but not by patients in the mri room. Leaving them on a patient could cause burns. You'll begin to notice that the battery may drain faster, the vibrations may not work, and it kay incorrectly record data. Hope this helps.

So I'm an MRI tech too. I had the original charge and it was fine in the magnetic field. The worst I got was that sometimes it would reset if my hand was moving thru the inside of the bore. I can't say for certain if the newer ones are safe (really, nothing is safe). I mainly avoid color screens because sometimes they will pull metals to the surface of the screen and blacken it out.

I service MRI's and my charge 2 is good in the 3t bore.😀

My fitbit inspire will not connect to the charger after I accidentally wore it into the suite. The machine ws not on, but I am still having problems. Is it because of the MRI?

My new luxe now has the same problem I wore it into the mri room and was even on the bed, but not in the machine. It now shows only the black screen of death and won’t connect to the charger. One long side gloms on but the other is repelled.
