Auto Stride Setting vs Actual and the # of steps calculated

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I set my stride to auto because I thought it would auto detect it for walking.  I now know that is not what it is used for however while it was set that way my number of steps taken shows quite a large increase and almost seems it is doubling my steps . Why would this be and is this correct?  Was the stride set by Fitbit for my height etc correct?  There is a very large discrepancy for sure and I just want it to be correct.

Stride length has nothing to do with number of steps.  It is just used for converting number of steps into distance.

Fitbit sets a default stride length based on your height, etc.  If you prefer to use your own number, you can change the default on phone app by tapping exercise tile, then gear icon near top right.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
