Awww, My Inspire won't Hold a Charge

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Been reading the community post to find out the my Inspire, got for Xmas, is doing the same as others as far as not holding a charge after charging for the night.  I haven't done any hard resets/boots, because most are saying to send it in.  I signed up for the free Premium account and then this happens.  Is there some type of issue there?  Wondering.  Please

Please help!!  If I workout, it doesn't count if my steps are not counted, lol.  😫

Hi, @EwokTheWookie , how long does a charge last on your Inspire?

The first trouble shooting step is to give it a restart.  A restart will shut done any bsckground activities that could be causing unusual battery drain.  Here are the instructions:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Hold the other end of the charging cable near the port on the back of the tracker until it attaches magnetically. The pins on the charging cable must connect securely with the port.
  3. Press and hold the button on your tracker for 5 seconds.
  4. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker has restarted.

Hi Julia

Thanks for replying. I did that and now it's flashing every 3secs.  And won't go to sleep.

What next!!!

Thanks

I did as instructed. It did not correct or fix the problem.

The Inspire has a happy face I do not.

What next?

I also got mine for Christmas and now it won't hold a charge. I restarted it. I have literally charged in 3 times to 100% in the last 24 hours. I noticed today it was losing 10% battery every hour. It was dead by 3PM. Ughh

My FitBit Inspire HR was working great for over five months and suddenly stopped staying charged for more than an hour or so.  Now it won't charge at all.  I get the smiley face and 0% charged but that is it.  Any suggestions?  Is this FitBit just defective?

I can't get the smiley face either. My Inspire is not cooperating at all. Lost a full charge in less than an hour.

Hi, everyone, if you cannot get the smiley face, try holding the button (while still plugged in and charging) for much longer than the recommended 5 seconds.  I would suggest giving it a hold for a good 20-30 seconds.  That will often force a restart.

For problems with battery drain, besides the restart, it can be a good idea to clean the charging contacts.  Here’s how:

  • Clean the charging contacts on the back of your device to ensure they stay bronze or gold in color:
    1. Use a toothbrush with rubbing alcohol. Dry with a cloth or tissue before charging.
    2. Make sure not to scrape the contacts with anything metal, since metal can damage the plating and cause corrosion.
  • Clean the pins on your charging cable:
    1. Clean the pins carefully with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol.
    2. Make sure that no pieces of the swab are left behind.

Nothing worked. I charged it twice today and within an hour, it was dead. I
gave up on that one. Getting a replacement-again.

Same issue here after a restart by the tech support.   Now I can't get a person to contact me.  This Fitbit is not even a year old.

How do you get replacement? Are you just buying a new one?

I got mine for Christmas last year and it died in April so I got a
replacement as I had a warranty. That lasted till today. I am on my second
replacement.

I contacted the Help people- a Live chat and they walked me through things
that I could do to see what was going on. Nothing worked so I contacted them
again through the Live chat and was told I had a choice of replacement or
50% for a different one. Given the life span on the last 2, this one will
make it to January. I did not want to stick with the Inspire but I didn't
want to pay a lot of money to get a different one either.

Thanks for the information. I may try to do that if i have time next week but I see it's on sale at BestBuy today so I'm going to get one and then call them and see if I can get the old one working or replaced. Then I'd at least have a backup.  I hate walking and working out without counting my steps LOL.  I also looked at Apple Watch but it's just not in the budget right now.  I get extra points for being frugal for a change !!!

Contacting the Chat Help is the way to go. Easy and fast. They can see what
is going on with your tracker. It is a bummer that it takes time for them to
send out the new one. Luckily for me, my husband had a Charge 3 that he did
not use so I took that one. It will probably last longer than the new
Inspire that they are sending out. Good luck.
