Best way to set up Fitbit for son when I don't have a Fitbit for me

We bought our 12-yr old son a Fitbit for Christmas because he really wanted one.  If I understand correctly I need to set up a Fitbit account for me and then add one for him as a family member.  However, I do not have a Fitbit for me. How can I bypass all the personal questions about weight and age and avoid it asking me to set up my Fitbit (connect it to my computer etc).  Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello @CHSSLS and a warm welcome.  It looks like you bought your son an Inspire HR as that is the tag at the bottom.  You cannot set up an Inspire HR on a Family Account.  Only an Ace/Ace 2 can be on a Family Account.  An Inspire HR can only be on an adult account.  In the US, a child must be age 13 an older to have an adult account.  In a nutshell, the reason for this are the digital privacy laws and how Fitbit handles data.

To get back to your original question, that personal data is used to calculate your basal metabolic rate calories.  Your account will show your BMR calories, even with no device on the account.  If you do not plan to add a Fitbit for yourself, then you can put down any numbers you want.  They do not have to be the truth.
