Brand new Inspire HR won't start up

My old fitbit Surge, given to me in 2015, finally gave up the ghost.  So I bought an Inspire HR.  Tried to set it up that day, but it would not complete the setup.  It synched with the app, but the screen on the fitbit just had a line across it.  Tried a hard restart - no change. On-line chat with Fitbit help did not resolve the issue.  Took it back to retailer and bought another.

Exactly the same thing has happened.  After a long phone call trying to sort it out - going through all the same solutions as last time, Fitbit advocate can only suggest they send me a new one.

Is anyone else having similar problems? Is the Inspire HR typically difficult to set up?

Accepted Solutions

I had the exact same problem just now. I also had an old Fitbit from 2015. I deleted the app and downloaded it again. Once I did this it said my Fitbit inspire needed an update which took 30 minutes and now it works. I also had the straight line appear but when the update started the line began to get a deeper colour as it updated.

Try turning your bluetooth off and on for a few seconds and make sure that the inspire hr isn't connected to it as well as removing the inspire hr from your fitbit account and restarting the setup. This just happened to me too. You'll see on your phone if the setup is successful that it starts downloading/installing the updated version.

Thank you for your advice, I tried all that - with both of them.  But both just went to a fitbit logo with a rolling message "www:fitbit.com/setup" and no further progress to finishing the set up.

Thank you so much for your message.  That seems to have worked!  Now I need to change the time to 24 hr clock and the date to UK format DD/MM/YY - if possible.  But the 'settings' line on the dashboard is 'greyed out'

Any ideas?

Not sure about the date but I chose the clock face called “Simple Stats” and it seems to be 24hr. You will find the Clock Face choices when you click into the Inspire HR in Account section.

Thank you.  Apparently in this case it is because they have already sent a new fitbit out to me and so I cannot actually use the current one.  They have disabled functionality.

It's such a shame when your excellent advice ( much better than fitbit customer services!) had actually solved the problem I was having with setup.

So now I'll just have to wait for this 3rd replacement and set that up instead - what a waste of time!!

Anyway - thank you for your help!
