Inspire HR tends to show 100 or more calories being burnt per hour. Towards end of night, it averages 2,800 or more per day and I'm really not that active, averaging 5,000 steps a day. Are they false readings on the Fitbit? I think that's a high number to burn with minimal activity.

Don't forget your BMR (basal metabolic rate) calories that you are always burning to stay alive. These usually account for over half your daily calorie burn. You can see what fitbit is using by looking at calorie burn chart overnight when you are asleep.

Your BMR is based on personal traits such as weight and age. If you look at calories burned chart, it shows calories burned for 15 minute intervals. Get that number where it is at a minimum overnight when asleep. To extend that to daily BMR, multiply the 15-minute number times 96. That gives you daily BMR calorie burn. The calories burned from activity are the difference between the BMR number and your actual total calorie burn. If you are more active, that will increase your daily calorie burn from activity, but BMR calorie burn will remain the same (unless you lose a lot of weight).
