Calorie counter and resting heart rate?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Im 40y/o. my resting heart rate is 88bpm. If Im not in bed, Im in the the fat burn zone. Is this making the fitbit over estimate my calories burned?

If so will manually entering a higher heart rate reduce/fix the calorie counrer?

...The BMR is correct, 1750 calories. But calories burned walking is more than double what Id expect. I burn 2800 calories on 10k step day, 2300 calories on 5k step days.

@wicked_sticky Welcome! It's nice to have you on board!

Let me help you with your calorie counter on your Inspire HR. As you mentioned you have a high resting heart rate. Since the heart rate data is taken into consideration it will affect the calculation. Still I find my own hr readings fairly accurate. Have you tried an online calorie calculator to have something to compare your current Fitbit calculations. Have you checked this with your doctor? The only way to have an exact measurement of your BMR and how it is affected by physical activity is by doing a specialized test (you can read more about it here). Still you can try using your own heart rate zone and see how this works out for you and remember that you can go back to the standard heart rate zones.

Let me know how it goes.

Editing my entire reply, seems like editing the max heart rate skews workouts to have way too low of a calorie count.

Read through some other posts, slightly raising heart rate and subtracting 6inches from my actual height is giving more realistic number
