Calories burned during activities ridiculously high

Has anyone had any problems with their Inspire HR registering calories burned during activities being way too high?

I went for a leisurely walk of 5.77 km in 1hr 22 mins and my Inspire HR is saying I burned 744 calories.

Is there something simple that will fix this or is there a problem with the device?

Thanks

Without knowing more about your weight, etc, it is not obvious to me that is "way too high".  What number would you have expected for calories burned?

Hi Johnny,

My height is 173cm, weight is 78kg and I'm a 24 year old male.

I would have expected a walk that long and at such a slow pace to be somewhere between 200-400 (at the very most).

Maybe you have looked at similar, but I just looked at this chart of calories burned by weight and activity.  It looks like you are between the 155 and 185 pound columns.  At first glance from that, I would say the Fitbit calories does seem a bit high, but your estimate seems low.

There is no "fix" or "adjustment" for Fitbit calorie burn.  Keep in mind that calories by Fitbit are based on intensity as measured by heart rate, over the length of time, rather than analyzing distance, pace, etc.

I suggest just sticking with it some more and noticing calorie burn on other walks and other activities, and try comparing with heart rate during those activities.
