Can't Pair New Pixel to Fitbit

ANSWERED

I just bought a Pixel 8 and I'd like to use Fitbit on the device.  The Fitbit application tries to pair with the device, but it always fails.  Annoyingly it doesn't explain what the issue is, but it always cheerfully offers to 'try again'.  Of course, the attempt continues to fail.

Why doesn't Fitbit handle the situation more intelligently?  What do I have to do to get this to work?

Thanks.

I should point out that my old Pixel 4 is still paired with the Fitbit.  Do I have to break the link with the Pixel 4 before attempting to use the Pixel 8?  Or can both be paired at the same time?

I'll explain exactly what I did. I first removed Fitbit from the list of
paired Bluetooth devices that are in the Android System settings. I did
not remove the old phone from the list of phones shown within the Fitbit
app. Then I tried to pair the new phone with Fitbit using the pairing
functionality provided by the Android System. That failed.

After your most recent note, I entered the screen in the Fitbit app on the
old phone and tried to let the Fitbit app on the new phone link properly.
That continued to fail.

Then I noticed that the Fitbit app on the old phone still had a link to an
older Flex device. I deleted that reference from the Fitbit app and the
new phone now syncs properly with the Inspire 2 device.

I do notice that under the 'Connected Devices' section of the Android
setting no pairing with the Inspire 2 device shows up. There was a pairing
displayed in the Android setting of the old phone. I suspect having it show
up as a pairing on the old phone is simply a reflection of how Fitbit used
to display the connection or is an artefact of an earlier Android version.

In any event, my new phone appears to have linked successfully with Fitbit
and it syncs successfully.

Thanks for your help
I wish I had taken screen snapshots through this process, since it would
have made communication far easier. 🫤

Hello @Zorkmid and welcome to the Community.  There is a tight Bluetooth bond between a Fitbit and your phone when you have it set to receive notifications.  Please remove your Fitbit from your list of Bluetooth devices on your Pixel 4 to use your new phone.

I told the Pixel 4a to forget the Bluetooth connection and then tried to
set up a new Bluetooth connection via the Pixel 8. The Fitbit doesn't show
up on the list of available devices on the Pixel 8.

If I go back to the Pixel 4a to restore the Bluetooth connection, the
Fitbit doesn't show up as an available connection there either. So, now I
have no way to interface with my Fitbit.

How do I proceed from here?
Thanks.

@Zorkmid You need to remove the Fitbit from the list of Bluetooth devices on your old phone first. Then open the Fitbit app on your new phone and set up the Fitbit as new device there. It's not clear to me that this is what you are doing. You don't need to add the Fitbit in the Bluetooth settings of the new phone. Just let the Fitbit app do that.

Even though I thought things were fine, it still wouldn't synchronize.  So I uninstalled Fitbit and re-added the Inspire 2.  Now things are working fine.
