I connected my new Fitbit about 10 days ago. But it seems some steps were left on from my old Fitbit, so it doesn’t begin the day at 0.

Your data is stored in your fitbit account keyed by your email. It doesn't matter what tracker it came from. Most people want to keep all their data when switching to a new tracker, so that is done by using the same Fitbit account.
If you want to get rid of previous data, the way to do that is to create a new Fitbit account/email for the new Fitbit.
Is tht what you were asking?

@ireneissilly I can't tell from your post which choice you are going to make. If you create a new account, you will lose all step and distance credit towards your next badges.

No there is nothing you can do so not to lose what you already have.
The reason its doing it because you didn't sync the old one a last time before switching over.
