Couldn't finish exercise on Inspire HR, now I have a 24-hour-long walk in the log

I went for a walk on Sunday. I started the exercise from the band so that I get the GPS reading and a map after the walk. When I came back from the walk, I wanted to stop the exercise, but the exercise app froze - my Inspire did not respond to clicking the button, the only thing I could do was cycle through the options - calories, steps, etc. - the exercise mode was still on and I couldn't shut it down. The option to pause/finish didn't appear on the band no matter what I did, what I clicked and how long I swiped. I somehow managed to push it out of the freeze by updating a clock face (I was away from home at the time and I didn't have access to my charger, so I couldn't do a proper reset then). It looked as if no exercise was being tracked - it looked normal as ever. But after that - the statistics for that day went haywire. No exercise was showing for the time - as if data was lost. But when I tried to add exercise manually - I either couldn't do this at all because it refused to log, or when it did log it, active minutes went down (?). When I deleted the manually added exercise - the steps were ok, the active minutes were ok... I gave up, let it be, and I reset it several hours later in the evening when I came back home and had my charger on hand.

I looked at my exercise history today and I noticed that now I have a brand new Sunday walk in my history. The map shows only the 2 hours of the actual walk, and various statistics - steps, calories, active minutes that correspond to it (only heart rate data is missing...), but the exercise length is logged as 24 hours 54 minutes and some seconds (???), with the last split lasting 1421 minutes... I guess the app must've crashed sometime during the last split/kilometre of the walk/at the end of the walk.

How can I make sure that it doesn't happen again in the future? What happens if I try to edit the exercise log now so that it correctly lists 2 hours of my walk, not over 24 - will I lose my beautiful GPS map?

Hi, @Melinde , you should be able to edit the end time of the exercise without losing any of your stats.  Don't create a manual log; just edit the time.  I have done this a number of times without losing my map, as I do sometimes forget to stop an exercise.

As for your question of how can you prevent this happening again, I am afraid that the short answer is you really cannot.  Hopefully it won't happen again (or not often, anyway) but all electronic devices do occasionally freeze.  A restart usually sorts this out, and you definitely did the right thing by restarting your Fitbit.

How do I edit the time? I don't see any option to edit past exercise logs - I can only delete it. Or rename those that my FitBit recognized automatically, but the ones that I started myself from the band are not editable.

I have the same issue. I only have the option to delete an exercise I added myself. I forgot to stop my tracker and now I have a 5 hour long tennis session. I don't want to lose my data by deleting it and adding it manually. Is there a way around this?

The same thing happens to me all the time; I go for a walk but can't stop my Inspire at the end.

The only thing that ends it is to plug it into the charger!
