I've been reasonably happy with the pedometer function on my Inspire HR but have found it counts 1000's of steps whilst I'm ridining my bike, why is this?

Hi, @SteveD1975! If you're riding a bike and going over bumps, it can be registered as steps. It's just a downside to an accelerometer. It's not "smart," it just recognizes movement.

I understand acceleromters as im an electronics engineer but most fitness trackers use a motion sensor awell in order to remove false readings.
The other thing that I find hard to understand is the device is already aware that I am cycling as I have chosen that excercise mode before setting off so surely the firmware can be informed to ignore any steps conted whilst in this mode as they are going to be false reads.
I have to say so far am am far less impressed with the accuracy comapred with my consideably cheaper generic device I upgadraded to a Fitbit from.
