Do the Inspire and Inspire HR count floors?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've always read that the inspire does not count stairs. When I looked online today, "floors climbed" is now listed under features and specs for both inspire and inspire HR. I also took the quiz to be matched with a product, selecting floors climbed as my only desired feature, and fitbit matched me to the Inspire and Inspire HR. Has something changed? Do they now count floors?

Just checked the Fitbit site. The Inspire HR specs has been corrected.

I can certainly understand if you want that feature, but be aware floors climbed do not affect calorie burn at all - that is based on heart rate rising from extra work climbing.  Floors climbed is totally stand-alone, not affecting anything else.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Yes, you are right. It was just a feature I enjoyed and believed false advertisement. At least my unhappiness reached some one and the SPECS were changed in a day.

Hi @WEMuss @karsimser , a warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for your posts.

As stated on my last post: Neither the Inspire nor the Inspire HR count floors.

I apologize if the information on the site was not accurate. Our team is going to correct it as soon as possible.

@Mossyfrog , thank you for your reply! Don't worry. I was just wondering where the information was posted to correct it.

If you have any other Fitbit, that is able to count floors, paired to your account, you'll still see the tile on the Dashboard for the floors.

Please let me know if any of you have further questions.

Hi everyone. It's great to see you here in the forums and welcome to our new members.

Thanks for taking the time to report the information displayed in our Fitbit site. As @JuanFitbit mentioned, the Inspire and the Inspire HR aren't able to track floors since they don't have the altimeter included which helps to detect altitude based on atmospheric pressure. I apologize for the confusion. Please know that your feedback has been escalated to our team so the specs for both trackers can be corrected.

If you'd like to know more about the features included in both trackers and how to use them, please check the Fitbit Inspire and Fitbit Inspire HR manuals. You can also post your question here to receive a reply from the Community.

I appreciate your patience and happy stepping!

I want the Floors climbed info...as previously mentioned that was listed in the specs when I made my purchase.  Who at Fitbit will send me a different model that includes that feature and a pre-paid UPS box so I can return the Inspire HR

Best Answer

Hi @warhawk20  where did you purchase your Inspire HR? Each retailer has different terms for returning it. If you got it from Fitbit directly, read this - click - on how returns work. It's not a simple matter of boxing it up to return, you need to have authorization to begin the process. Let us know what happens.

I just purchased the Inspire HR to replace my One. I’m in my 60’s and walking and stairs are my primary form of exercise. I thought that I was getting an enhanced version of the One. If I cannot track stairs, it serves me no purpose. Because I (we) purchased it under false pretenses that stairs was a feature, will our units be replaced (without cost) when this feature actually is included?

I completely agree with you. I bought mine 5 months ago with the same thought. And unfortunately it does not count stairs. It’s a major issue on Fitbit’s part.

I am so disappointed that the Inspire HR does not track floors but is included as part of the specs.  I am a Fitbit One user and this is the closest thing I can find.  I work in a food manufacturing environment where you cannot wear watches or jewelry.  Very protected environment so needed something I could hook to my bra or pants easily and still get the results needed. I have made some adjustments to how I wear this product just so it could work in my daily environment so I am incredibly let down.  I was disappointed while shopping and waited over a year after the Fitbit one was eliminated.  You are missing such a huge section of people by not offering more than the watch.  I know that I am not the only one that needs something for a irregular environment but would like the same features.  Please get this feature corrected by adding it to the program lineup on the product.  Thank you.

I am completely disappointed with FitBit for false advertising, it clearly states the Inspire HR counts floors climbed and is one of the main features I was interested in.....duped! I will be calling for a refund and return.

Hey Juan, it is July and the false advertising is still up and running!!!!!! I am so mad. Get the company to correct this...

How will you let us know when the correction is made??  We need to count stairs,as we walk up hills all the time here in San Francisco.

Best Answer

Hi @CJNJH  correction? The Inspire and Inspire HR are no longer being sold. The only one in the series is the Inspire 2 and it doesn't track stairs.

Are you adding the feature to the software with an update? There are many of us who have purchased this device from the information provided by your company that this device will count flights of stairs. As you already have the programing for your other devices I believe it would make sense to add this feature as advertised.

Sent from my Bell Samsung device over Canada's largest network.

Hi @YCFUZZY  it might be more than just a firmware update. An altimeter is needed in order for the Fitbit to detect the flights of stairs. The reason the Inspire series devices aren't as expensive is that they don't have all the bells and whistles. Not everyone wants more than a way to keep track of their steps.

Then I think fitbit should replace for free the inspire fitbits as they were falsely advertised as having the stair feature.

Best Answer

That’s rather TOO late after my gym class bought and upgraded to Inspire HR for the stair climbing alone. They now have 2 useless devices.

The thing about that is the Inspire family was developed primarily as a replacement for the Fitbit One, a very popular Fitbit that DID count stairs, and was priced the same as the Inspire (well, the same as the Inspire HR). It seems reasonable to expect a new version of a product will have at least comparable features to the one it is phasing out. I wanted the Inspire to count stairs like its predecessor. I ended up grudgingly getting a Charge 4 because the altimeter was important to me, but I resent having to wear it on my wrist, since that means I can't wear it 8 hours a day (I work in medicine, and cannot have jewelry on my hands and wrists).

Hi @fluffyturtle  the Inspire series replaced the Alta series, which replaced the Flex series. I never had the One, but many people loved it.
