Do the Inspire and Inspire HR count floors?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've always read that the inspire does not count stairs. When I looked online today, "floors climbed" is now listed under features and specs for both inspire and inspire HR. I also took the quiz to be matched with a product, selecting floors climbed as my only desired feature, and fitbit matched me to the Inspire and Inspire HR. Has something changed? Do they now count floors?

My kids gave me one for Xmas and was shocked it doesn’t count floors.  I mean, seriously it can log how much water i drink but not could floors.  Very poor design.

Hi @SoCalgirl66  the Inspire series tracker replaced the Flex, which was a basic Fitbit and not the one with all the bells and whistles of the smart watches. It has no altimeter, so it can't recognize flights of stairs, just like the Flex series.

Well. I have a new inspire 2 and is not counting stairs climbed. Seriously, one reason I wanted a Fitbit. When will this be fixed?

Hi @Cherose  the Inspire 2 does not have the needed altimeter in order to recognize flights of stairs. User manual - click - does not mention stairs. It won't be fixed because the Inspire 2 (as were the Inspire HR and Inspire devices) simply was not made to count stairs. You'd need to get another device that tracks them.

No Inspire doesn’t count stairs. I use my IPhone for that. It’s really too bad it doesn’t.

True @SoCalgirl66  but not everyone wants all the bells and whistles. I know a few people who only care about steps and nothing more.

I have the HR and it doesn’t count floors. So annoying when it was advertised as doing so. 🙄😩

@YCFUZZY-- it can't be done as a software update since it's actually missing hardware -- the altimeter is how it would track floors, they left it out of the Inspire -- even though it's essentially the same size as the original "one" they eliminated that. 😞

@fluffyturtleExactly! I ended up wearing my charge on my ankle because it is WAY TOO BIG for my wrist.  The one was the best device and the inspire is the same size and same price, since Fitbit stopped making the one the inspire was passed off as the replacement when it actually wasn't. I was once  told that I was the only one who wanted floors and that the inspire was better than the one, but not if it doesn't do everything the one did which is what I had wanted. It's not like it's impossible to put the altimeter into the inspire, it's actually a bit bigger than the original one, so size isn't the reason. They just didn't bother to do it and now they keep making the same mistake over and over because the device looks like it sells without that feature because of the original false advertising. Maybe Google will fix it?
