I was chatting with my doctor about my fitbit and he is very interesting in learning how the Fitbit Inspire HR determines resting heart rate. Note that I do know the definition of what a resting heart rate its - I'm looking for details on how the Fitbit comes up with the number. I've read the Help article on the subject and all it says is that "Fitbit uses your heart-rate data from when you’re both awake and asleep to estimate your resting heart rate. " But what data? I need specifics.
My Doc is also someone of a tech expert so feel free to get technical and I'll pass it along LOL

Hi @Harbisgirl - Here is the definition from the help page. You can find more details here.

WHAT IS MY RESTING HEART RATE ON MY FITBIT DEVICE?
Resting heart rate is the number of times your heart beats per minute when you are still and well rested. This metric can be an important indicator of your fitness level and overall cardiovascular health. The typical resting heart-rate range for adult Fitbit users is 50-90 beats per minute. Active people often have a lower resting heart rate. For more information, see the Fitbit Blog.
Fitbit uses your heart-rate data from when you’re both awake and asleep to estimate your resting heart rate. For best results, wear your device to sleep.

I appreciate your response but that doesn't actually answer my question, and that is what I quoted in my original message 🙂 Thanks for your effort though 🙂

I found this explanation for how Fitbit calculates resting heart rate. Here’s another. And finally, this one from Wareable. I started looking more deeply into an explanation because my doctor was questioning it.
