Dominant hand issue for lefties

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My brand new Fitbit has made me realize how many things lefties end up doing with their non-dominant hand---since the world was apparently created for righties.

Everything from gear shifting in the car, to dealing cards, to crocheting, in my case, to name a few odd ones.  (And no, I'm not going to rush out and get a right-hand drive car...)

Can I compensate for that?  Or just assume that the step count is going to be higher than my actual steps?

Hi @LeftofCenter  first of all, I love lefties! I've seen firsthand that this world does everything backwards compared to the awesome lefties! Crocheting would throw me off. I have enough trouble doing what my crochet instructor called the strangest stitches she'd ever seen and I'm right handed. Which did you get - the Inspire or the Inspire HR? The Inspire has an optional clip you can get and it doesn't care if you're a leftie. It honestly doesn't matter which hand you wear it on, as long as you're moving those arms while walking. Wrist based Fitbits need the movement, so your crocheting might add extra steps, too. You can always remove the extra steps if it concerns you, but it will probably equal out in the long run. I used to wear a Fitbit on each wrist, using two different accounts, which led me to realize I need to move my arms more. Pushing a cart, the steps don't add up unless I use one hand to push. Really, you'll get used to a few things as you go along and these forums are a great place to share recipes and walking tips. Glad you're with us!
