And I'm using a charge 3

Best Answer

I've had a charge 3 for a little under two weeks. For the first week I got oxygen data for a few nights, but our wasn't consistent. Since signing up for the premium trial, it's been missing completely. It would be nice for Fitbit to at least acknowledge that they are aware of this issue and advise that they are looking into it. A simple Google search shows numerous reports and I'm will to be the forum volunteers have reported it to their community managers.

@BrianFitzSGJ can I just check that you  are aware it's in a different place for premium users:

"Tap a sleep log (Fitbit Premium users, tap a sleep log > Restoration) and swipe to find your estimated oxygen variation graph."

I am aware, but I appreciate you pointing that out just the same. I just cleared user data from my charge 3 again to see if it makes a difference tonight. Will report back to see if it helps resolve the issue.

@BrianFitzSGJ   I found your post because I tend to read new posts in threads that are marked solved.  Do you know that the EOV graph is in the Restoration section of the Premium sleep details, not the Sleep Stages?  Try looking there.

I also want to point out that Charge 3 users who are posting in this thread probably won't get much help.  This is the Inspire/Inspire HR forum.  The Inspire HR doesn't give EOV.  Charge 3 users looking for help should browse and post in the Charge 3 forum.

My Better Half got a Charge 3 and was getting the EOV graph from the start.  Nice.

I picked up a Charge 3, but for the first three nights was not getting anything but a blank box for EOV.  Sleep data, yes.  I followed the official advice on the FitBit forum posts, but nothing.

I finally followed the advice of one of the forum contributors and "Restarted" the Charge 3.  I had to set it up again, but OK.  The following morning I had an EOV graph.  That was last night.  I'll see if I get data tomorrow, but my fall-back action now would be to "Restart" the Charge 3 if it goes away.  Sort-of like rebooting a PC, I suppose?

Hope this helps someone.

Please can you confirm when this feature will be added to the charge 4. It is advertised as having it!

thanks.

Since the Restart, I have been getting EOV every night. I did an experiment on oxygen levels by going a night without the CPAP, and got some orange 'high variations', but don't really understand what the graph measures, nor what it means. Not a lot (read non-existent or not readily findable) information on what the EOV graph is meant to tell me.

I am in the same boat with my Charge 4.

Hi, the link (Help Article: How do I track my estimated oxygen variation in the Fitbit app?) suggested is helpful and sends us to:

https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1876/

At the end (bottom) there is this info:

WHY DON’T I SEE AN ESTIMATED OXYGEN VARIATION GRAPH IN THE FITBIT APP?
If you move frequently during sleep, the movement can interfere with the light that bounces back to the sensors on your device.

To receive EOV data, note the following:
  • Make sure your Fitbit device is snug and secure before you go to sleep. For more information, see How do I wear my Fitbit device?
  • Make sure your Fitbit device is charged.
  • You must have Charge 3, Charge 4, Ionic, or a Versa series device.
  • You must sleep 3 or more hours.

It might need an update, because it looks (empirical assumption from my side, don't take it granted) like:
  • You must sleep 3 UNINTERRUPTED or more hours.

Thank you!

EOV has mysteriously disappeared on both my Better Half's and my devices since two days ago.  I will try a reset on my device to see if it comes back.

I've played with this a bit now and here are my observations. If I change the watch face on my Charge 3 it stops recording estimated oxygen variation, every time. When I clear user data on my Charge 3 it returns. Since discovering this, I just automatically clear user data from my Fitbit anytime I change the watch face and I haven't lost oxygen data since. Just be sure to sync your Fitbit to your phone before clearing data. That way you don't lose any of your progress for the data and the phone just loads of off your current data back to the Fitbit when it syncs again.

Bingo!  We both changed the displays on our devices two days ago!  Fabulous.  Why does this happen?  Bad programming, cause the changing of a display shouldn't affect the functions on the device.

Thanks for the advice.

EOV graphs are back, so the 'Clear User Data' process worked. Still a 'Wow!' moment. Two unrelated functions that affect the operation of the device? Not good programming.

I had tried clearing user data, but I am still unable to see the graph of Estimated Oxygen Variation.

Any advise?

Updated: Resolved, need to wait for the next day.

I've been noticing this issue, too. I think it occurs on nights when I am not sleeping 3+hours straight through as I noticed that in the description for this function.

Will you please tell me what made your red light come back on?  I have a Charge 4 that gave me an EOV one time only.  It’s charged, it’s snug, it just doesn’t work.  Thank you.

Hi,
Well, I gently clean the back with a microfiber cloth with a tiny amount of
eyeglass sprayed ON THE CLOTH, NOT on my Fitbit. Disclaimer: I don't know
if this will eventually ruin my Fitbit but it's been working. I also made
sure it was fitting snugly.
Good luck!
