Hello everyone,
I am really excited about my new FitBit Inspire 2 but am having problems connecting it with my MAC OS El Captain. I have downloaded the software from this site
https://www.fitbit.com/global/us/setup
and have the dmg file on my hard drive however time I run the installation and try to connect the screen freezes. I have a FitBit USB Dongle and it is plugged in but the connection is not being made. Has anyone experienced this? I want to make it compatiable but nothing is happening at the moment.
If you have any suggestions or require technical specs please ask. Any help is a appreciatted. I belive I am almost there.
AnneK

Hello @annekflan. I'm happy to help you, but you're not going to like the answer. Fitbit Connect can't support the newer Fitbits. The Inspire 2, like all of the newest models, needs a compatible smartphone or tablet. This information is on the Inspire 2 box, but it isn't easy to find. In my opinion, the font on that section of the box is at the lowest limit of human perception, so it is easy to miss.
I also need to point out that Apple ended all support for El Capitan. This means that your computer doesn't get security updates and you should think about retiring it.

Hi @annekflan - thanks for providing such good detail in your post! I’m checking with a couple of my Mac “expert” friends, but in the meantime, do you have an iPhone you could use instead? (Or even an android?) That would be the simplest fix. But I’ll let you know what I hear.

Carol,
I don't have an iPhone app and I tried using it on Android but my device isn't comptiable. It is a little outdated. I am determined to use the Apple OS application. I know it can work and hopefully somebody can contribute.
Thanks,
annekflan

Hi Laurie,
Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated. I figured that we may be having a problem like that but I guess it was hard to accept the truth. If anyone can find a way to implement a work-around it would be much valued.
Thanks,
AnneK

Nice to see that you're digging into the Fitbit Forums, @annekflan. Let me give you a warm welcome to our community.
Thank you for your help, @LZeeW and @LZeeW.
Thank you for all the troubleshooting steps that you've tried in order to set up your Inspire 2 using X MAC OS El Captain. We really appreciate your comments, but as mentioned before new models are expected to be used with compatible devices to have a better experience with new features. I'd be great if you could consider using a compatible device to keep your Inspire 2.
In the other hand, we keep the option to use the Fitbit Connect app to download music from your computer to certain smartwatches. For certain legacy devices, you can use the Fitbit Connect app to set up and sync your device with a computer if you don’t have a compatible iPhone or Android phone. For the best experience, set up your device with the Fitbit app on your compatible Android phone or iPhone.
Hope this helps.
