Fitbit Inspire HR battery life suddenly drastically dropped

Yesterday my Inspire HR suddenly didn't respond. I plugged it in and the battery was suddenly at 0%. It had been at about 35% just an hour or so before. 

 

Sure this can happen I thought so I charged it. But now the battery drops immediately and a 100% charge lasts for only 1.5 hours or so. 

 

I've tried the troubleshooting advice offered here (cleaning the plug, changing the clock, disabling notifications etc) but it hasn't helped.

 

Any ideas? I bought it in May last year but is it already done for?
