Fitbit Inspire's mileage not accurate

I could tell the miles I run and walk were not all being counted, so I've run on the elliptical, and the mileage is way off! Today, I ran 4.020 miles, and my Fitbit only counted 1.74 miles! How do fix this?

Let me help you with your distance calculation on your Inspire. Your device uses the number of steps and stride length to calculate the distance. You can improve the accuracy by measuring and logging your stride length. Feel free to use these instructions to do this.
