Fitbit gives more steps than before

Hi! I bought Inspire HR on March. Until mid June I had sometimes difficulties to get 10 000 steps for my inactive job in front of computer, at worst I had collected 1500 steps after my work day 4 pm and I had to do something extra like walk 4 km to get my steps filled. Luckily I do quite much biking and walking on freetime.

2 weeks ago I started holidays. First I thought maybe I'm just more active, because my steps started to be over 15 000 every day. (I got for example 28 000 steps on a day I was lawning). But now I started to be suspicious and to think there has been some kind of update that changed something in Fitbit. Yesterday I had 7000 steps by lunch time and I had mostly sat in a car, we only packed our tent and walked a few hundred meters.

Did something chance lately in Fitbit? Also my calorie consumption has been around 300-500 bigger than normally, but I don't feel I have been more active.

@Varpunen Thanks for stopping by!

Let me help you with your increased steps count on your Inspire HR. Your device will detect the movement on your arm and translate that movement into steps. There are situations in which your arm may move but you won't be actually walking. For example, this may happen when you are playing the drums, burping a baby or clapping or in your case mowing the lawn. It can also happen while driving. You can negate these steps by logging a driving activity. You can try wearing your device on your non-dominant hand but select that hand as dominant on the device’s settings to make it less sensitive to movement. The additional steps will also cause an increase in calories burned due to activities.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately what you described is not
explaining my question. I was sitting in the car, not driving myself.
Lawning does not move my hands, then I am really moving by walking and
holding the
handle still.

This week I have not got as strange amounts of steps as the last week of
June.
