Fitbit not responding to tap and screen dim

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Inspire 2 no longer responds to tapping. The only way that I can get it work is by pinching the sides. When it does come on the display is so dim that it cannot be seen in daylight.

I have already tried a restart but that made no difference.

What can I do?

You might have accidentally gotten into Sleep Mode. Hold in both side buttons for a few seconds to get to Quick Settings.  See if the Sleep Mode (half moon) is turned on. Tap to turn off.

I have got to the screen that shows the half moon and 'Sleep'. Does that mean it is in sleep mode? What do I do now as tapping does not work on my device?

If that was the problem, the half moon would be bright and tap would toggle Sleep Mode on and off and get bright and dim with each toggle.  If that is not the case, that was not the issue.

Sleep mode makes the display dim and prevents the display coming on with wrist turn but I wasn't sure about tapping.  But apparently yours is a different issue so I'm no help.  Sorry.

Just to close the loop on this one.

I had a Live Chat about this problem and it seems that not responding to tapping is a fault on the device that cannot be fixed in the UK as there are no repair facilities here.

My only option is to buy a new device. I was told that the warranty status would be checked and I would receive an email confirming this and if it is out of warranty then I would be given 35% off a new device. Have not received an email.

Does display come on with wrist turn?  I would think that would always be easier than tap.  For brightness, U assume you have checked brightness setting.

By the way, no repair facilities anywhere, not just in UK.

The display does not come on with wrist turn either. It's clear that the mechanism where movement turns on the display has failed. Also does not vibrate. Think it is in a very deep sleep!

No display with wrist turn and no vibrate both sound to me like Sleep Mode is on but you say you have checked that.  You could also go to full Settings to check that.

But as I keep saying my device is not responding to tapping and swiping so I cannot do anything either to check or change anything.

I am giving up and buying a new device and not a Fitbit

Okay. That's the first I had seen that you could not swipe.

Swipe works but not consistently. It often takes several attempts for anything to move. I finally managed to get to Sleep Mode in the Settings but it does not say on or off and tapping does nothing.

Hi.  Mine also is so dim in daylight I physically can't see the screen.   Where do I find the brightness settings you've mentioned please?

I don't have Inspire 2 in front of me.  Best I can do is reference Inspire 2 manual that you can look at too.

And note it is supposed to be a double tap to wake screen, and that can be turned off of Settings as shown above in "Double Tap" entry.

Look at my post above with screen cap from manual that shown Settings entry of "Dim Screen".  I guess that is only option.
