Font size on Inspire HR

The Alta HR is easy to read with larger, vertical text. If the Inspire is replacing the Alta, the new tracker is unreadable to those of us who need glasses (but don't wear them all the time). Why no option to change the font? Can't use a tracker that's too hard to read.

Valerie clock face is available with the newest upgrade 163.5

Unfortunately a larger font was not included in the upgrade.

also... how do I get this "Valerie" clock face???

They have released it to a select few customers.  I received mine on Monday.  They will eventually release to everyone.

I was hoping with the new release we would have options that could display a larger font.

Totally agree with both Mike & Jim!!

Increase the font size and decrease the icon size.

I agree with Mike.  Just got the Inspire HR for my wife for Mother’s Day and the font size is way too small.  GET RID OF the silly icons and give us a larger font or as in the Alta have the option of rotating the screen horizontal so the font will appear larger.  Talked to Fitbit and they said have to post on the community forum and they will “eventually” choose a fix.  I might just get tired of waiting and return this Inspire within the 45 day window and find an Alta HR to buy.

Hi just got the inspire as alta replacement not available the step font is way too small thought there would be a fix also vibration on alarm is way too soft hoped to fix that too, miss my alta already and it is only day 1

I went on Amazon to find a replacement for my Alta's broken band (something I try to avoid, but Fitbit did not have any).  I found a package of FOUR different colors for $9.99 and they're great, even better fitting and a better clasp than the original.  So I am definitely returning my Inspire.

BTW, I also found the Inspire to be much less responsive than the Alta. For instance, instead of tapping for the next screen you have to swipe, and if you're fingers are sweaty that won't work--the swipe isn't recognized. But that's OK because I couldn't read it anyway...  This forum however has been very helpful; I hope Fitbit pays attention to it.

I prefer the font on the Alta HR as well, but what I absolutely love about the Inspire HR is that I can shower with it on.
Hopefully Fitbit reads these posts and will do something with the font size.
My son has the Charge 3, and his font is small as well.

Hi,
Yes, I totally agree, Font size too small, icons too big, alarm vibration too soft.
Ideally if they could have the display horizontal, rather than vertical, the icons could be slightly smaller,
which would allow a greater amount of space for the font to be increased.
I also preferred the date display on the Alta HR, it displayed Mon, Tues, Wed etc.
Yes, I do miss my Alta HR as well.
The one positive about the Inspire is that it is water proof, so I am able to shower with it.
Is there somewhere to advise Fitbit directly about these issues/suggestions?
I am sure they would welcome customer feedback.

Unfortunately for me it was the brains of the alta that went fitbit is
replacing the inspire they decided it was defective

Alison, I'm not clear on what you're saying--can you please explain? It seems you're saying that Fitbit is discontinuing the Inspire because of its defects. But is that correct? Thanks.

I was wondering if that was what you meant also?

I am sad to be returning my new Inspire HR, which I bought to help me track steps and heart rate while hiking. Alas, I cannot read the tiny fitness tracking font at all when I am outdoors in bright sunlight or even in shade. If I have sunglasses on, I cannot even read the time. The font and thickness of the type is just too small.

Fitbit folks, please reduce the icon size and increase the type size and density of the font. Or better yet, set up an alternate clock face for older users (I am in my 60s). Advertise the availability of the larger font, and you will get a lot of new older customers who want to track their activity and heart rates.

Totally agree with you.
Font size is too small, and icons are too large.
Lets hope FitBit releases an update to resolve these issues.

I had the HR Alta which broke. Just got the Inspire HR and am very disappointed. The font is soooo small for everything other than the clock. I already have two watches that just tell time and date. I bought this to track my steps but if I can barely read it, there is no point in keeping it. I found the Alta a much better product. I could read the data easily without putting on glasses.  I see that people have been complaining about the font for months yet Fitbit is still selling this product. My mistake – should have read the reviews before I purchased it but I trusted it would be as good if not better than the prior product it was replacing.

I absolutely agree. If it dose happen will be too late for me I guess

Right on!  You don't need such a big icon.  Can't read the tiny font especially when exercising and when I really NEED the heart rate info!!

Absolutely agree font is too small on Inspire HR Fitbit. Even with magnifying glass is still too hard to read. Something should definitely be done about changing it

Did the new bands overcome the problem of the band falling off? I'm wondering if it is the band or the clip that is the problem.  I have replaced 2 Alta's for this problem - the second only lasted a month before it started happening.

I hate the Inspire.  I am only 45 and wear glasses with a minimal script for reading and can't read the screen at all. It also can't pick up my sleep (despite wearing it uncomfortably tight) which is the main reason I have it.  So now it is nothing more than a watch

Best Answer

In response to 45 yr old wearer of glasses just letting you know that the fitbit should not be worn tight on

wrist, as it has brought me out in a rash if I wear it tight. Not good.

I have not had problems with the band falling off, however, I am still not loving my Inspire. Unfortunately, the Charge is to large for my wrist. Also, I changed the clock face to other styles based on feedback on this site but that really didn't help. I wish the Alta was back.  So much about it that I liked better.

Totally agree, I bought the HR version to specifically monitor heart rate easily without stopping my motion or having to flip through a menu in the middle of a run. All of the options focus on the readability of the larger clock or the animated icon vs the actual stats. Hopefully they will adjust the graphics ratio to include a reverse of this template offering large font stats with a small clock and small icons.
