I hoped my Inspire would be an improvement for tracking my swimming vs the waterfi I have been using for years. But, my normal mode of keeping track of my swim effort is average HR over my swim session. Disappointed that I can't get this with the Inspire HR. Is there a reason for this?
Does the HR tracking work if I don't use the swim mode, and just swim without starting a session?

Hi @curtdo
The reason you dont get HR tracking when using swim mode is that Optical HR (that all wrist worn HR trackers use, not just fitbit) is not accurate in water, as light travels differently through water. So, yes, you can let it auto detect, and yes, you will get a graph. Will it be accurate? No, and the waterfi tracker probably wasnt accurate in the HR reading either.

My Inspire HR doesn't track any heart rate at all when I tracked swimming using the exercise shortcut.

Any claims that this is not possible is total BS. Garmin & Mio are just 2 other watches I own that track heart rate accurately while swimming! My fitbitHR won't even respond to my touch when wet! WTF? Total design flaw! Designers should be fired and Fitbit should issue a refund for a total useless product for swimmers! Shame on anyone who defends these flaws! Own up and FIX them!!!

My Google Watch tracks heart rate perfectly when I swim. I specifically use it to track my HR while swimming to keep it in a particular zone. I use the "Aerobics" workout, since the "Swim" workout won't track HR. Fitbit really needs to fix this. The "best answer" above is just wrong.
