Heart rate suddenly stopped working

My heart rate monitor stopped. The green LED stopped blinking on my Inspire HR.
Resetting did not work.

Disconnect / removed from the app / profile did nothing.

I ended up erasing all personal data from it and then it worked.

I went into the settings on my device and somehow the heart rate was turned off.  I just had to tap it to turn it back on.  😄

I have reset the charge 3 every way I have read about. I plug into charger and it fixes it where I can get the green sensor and within five minutes or less it stops. I have deleted and started over. It just won’t stay on. So frustrated. Please help.

I gave up and bought a new Charge 3. So frustrating. If this one stopped, I may explore other brands...

I have a Fitbit charge 3. It’s only 15 months old. I ended up calling the customer service number and she told me to do exactly what I’ve already done.   It worked for 10 minutes and stopped. She told me

to call back tomorrow if it doesn’t track my sleep tonight. I have a case number associated with the call. Well I will call back tomorrow after it doesn’t track my sleep tonight. Yes so frustrating and I have loved having it but i

may have to try another brand too.

Tried the fix mentioned here.  It did not work, now my fit bit is wiped clean ( I did sync before doing this however)
Heart rate still not working.

I just found out by scrolling my Inspire there is a "settings" on the unit itself.  I opened it and found a function to turn it off & on.  Didnt know it was there.  Some how mine got turned off there and I turned it back on after a week of it not working.  Go figure.  🙂

Likewise for me. I did factory reset twice, normal reset multiple times and it did not work.

Even that didn't work for - Versa user! And the Fitbit customer support sends me link to buy new fitbit devices !!!! this is just over a yr old

My fitbit has been acting irrationally ever since the last update.  HR doesn’t work, steps not counting, notification to move barely triggers 🙄🙄😳😳

Thanks for that I was wondering what on earth had happened.

My Inspire 2 had the same problem. It just one day stopped picking up my heart rate and the heart rate was grayed out. I finally realized it was on the “on clip” setting instead of “on wrist” setting. Changing it back to “on wrist” immediately corrected the issue. The thing is I don’t know how it got switched to “on clip” in the first place.

Hi Matt,

I have the Fitbit Versa and mine has just recently stopped tracking heart rate and sleep. I have factory reset it, cleared the app and reinstalled all but it's still not working. Can you please advise. Thanks.

@MattFitbit - I've tried all of these steps, but still no luck getting HR back. Any thoughts?

Have a Fitbit Inspire HR version 20001.88.11, if that's helpful.

Thanks!

I updated last night and my heart rate stopped recording abruptly today. I was getting out of the car and it stopped. I looked at while in the car and it was working. I have held the button while charging...no luck. I have turning from 'auto' to 'off' and synced, then turned to 'on' and synced, then turned it back to 'auto' and synced several times...no luck. I have taken it off and tightened the band and then synced...no luck. I have done everything but delete the app and reinstall. I do not want to lose my data so I would like to avoid doing that if possible. This is a fitbit charge 2. It has to be the update?

Can this be fixed?

Hi all, I'm a 16 year old who has recently experienced this issue after getting my new fitbit a couple of days ago, but managed to resolve it. (I use an Inspire 2 fitbit.) Before I begin, I've noticed that a lot of people are confused with the advice the "best answer" gives us.

To those of you looking to "clear user data", this option is found after scrolling through the settings found on your fitbit, not your phone. However, this did not resolve the issue for me.

I haven't seen this tip yet, so I thought I'd share it. Originally, I tried everything I could find here, from deleting the data (from the app), deleting my account, restarting the device multiple times, etc. This is the only thing that helped.

Firstly, check that there is no green LED light flashing underneath the fitbit. If there is, AND your heart rate isn't tracking, then I'm not sure if this is going to help you. I had no green LED.

    What I did was:

   1. hold down on the side button(s) of my fitbit to open the quick settings. you should see the initials "DND" if you're on the correct screen.

   2. scroll down to the bottom of these settings until you reach the bottommost symbol that either says "on clip" or "on wrist".

   3. if your fitbit shows "on clip", change it to "on wrist" by clicking it. if it already says this, that's okay, keep it there.

   4. go back to the clock face by holding down the side button(s).

   5. scroll up to the settings (which should look like a gear symbol and should be at the very top) and click on this.

   6. scroll downwards, and below the "phone GPS" section, there should be a section called "heart rate." (this may or may not have been there before           depending on whether or not your fitbit was "on wrist" or "on clip".)

   7. ensure that this ON, and if it already was, click it OFF and then ON AGAIN.

   8. return to the clock face by pressing the side button(s) twice.

   9. scroll down from the clock face to the heart rate, and hopefully it should be tracking your heart rate.

   10. i made the mistake to declare it hadn't worked while the fitbit was still charging. to fully check if this has worked or not, unplug the fitbit if yours              was charging, check for a green LED, and put it snug on your wrist.

This worked for me, and hopefully it worked for you. This was a real pain to deal with and I really wish that yours becomes normal again. 🙂

Hi,

I'm facing the same issue and the steps that you mentioned have not worked for me.  I've tried restarting the watch using power button, also tried a factory reset; but to no avail.

The sensor light doesn't turn on!

Can you please suggest what I could do?
