Heartrate inaccurate when exercising

Hi,

I've had this issue a few times the last few weeks and just assumed it was a matter of wearing the band wrong, but I think there might be something wrong with the exercise function on the Inspire HR. Yesterday I started at the gym with 8 min on the elliptical, where my hr reached a high of 168, then a wight-lifting routine before finishing on the treamill. I checked my heartrate at that point, and it was about 108. When I got on the treamill, I started the exercise mode almost immediately, and about 7 min in, I checked my hr and noticed it was 117, which was odd because I was very out of breath and my hr is normally between 150-172 throughout. So I tried tightening the wristband as I walked, hr jumped to 119 and then dropped again. I moved it down my wrist for it to drop suddenly to 100 and then 80, put it back in place and it dropped to 68. I tried moving it a bit more and it went back to 116, so I tried switching wrists, just in case. This made it about 112 on the other wrist, so I decided to stop the exercise mode, just to check. It took me a couple of minutes to exit out, cause it's not easy pressing the screen when walking, checked hr on my phone it was 116, placed the fitbit back on my left wrist, and phone read 119, still couldn't read the device as the "finish" sign was blocking the screen.

By 14 minutes in, I cleared the 'finish' sign, my hr jumped to 168, and for the next 4 minutes before my cooldown it wavered between 175 and 168, more or less what I was expecting.

It's not the first time I've had this happen, where I'll check halfway through my workout and it has me at a hr of 112 or 119 when I'm out of breath and the machine reads a hr of 169ish. I just haven't turned off the exercise mode mid-way through exercise and just given up on getting an accurate reading. It's probably happened 3 or 4 times in the last month, and last thursday it did this weird thing on the graph where each second has a range of hr from 100 to 170 rather than a line graph. I haven't noticed this behaviour at all when on the treadmill without the exercise mode on.

I have also had issues with inconsistent HR readings. By way of example, during a weights session today the graph accessed by the ‘exercise’ tile on the app dashboard shows a peak of 189. This is markedly different from the reading on another device I was wearing with a chest strap. Bizarrely it is also inconsistent with the graph of the HR for today accessed through the heart tile on the dashboard which shows a peak of 150. Looking back to other days I noticed that during a session last week it appears to suggest that my peak HR was 208!!  It is a pity that the readings appear to be so unreliable.

is there a way to set the watch (charge 4) so the heartrate is picked up as a constant? Mine shows intermittently high and then low when the exercise is steady.
