How to get out of exercise

The first day I used it it was great! While exercising, I just needed to look down to see a large heart rate reading. Just what I wanted. I had selected treadmill, though using an elliptical. The second day, I could not get to stop exercise, but when pressing button got battery%/screen wake. Only way out of this screen seems to be to reboot on the charger. I can go back to the exercise it thinks I am doing, but nothing else. How do I leave this screen? And how do I get the large visible heart rate?

When you were in Exercise and pressed side button and got battery level, that means you held in button too long, but from there, a short button press will take you back into the exercise activity.

When in Treadmill, a short button press will take you to Pause screen.  From there, you can tap the big arrow on the screen to continue exercise, or press the side button again which will bring up the Finish flag.  From there, tap the Finish flag to end, or scroll down and tap screen to return to Pause screen.

To summarize if you just want to quit, 2 short button presses, then tap Finish flag.

Thank you. But how do I get out of the battery life/ screen wake screen? And how do I get that big heart rate readout?

I already aswered your first question.

"When you were in Exercise and pressed side button and got battery level, that means you held in button too long, but from there, a short button press will take you back into the exercise activity."

Within exercise mode, swipe up or down to get to different displays, including heart rate.
